First Buck in a few years.

Great work. I cam relate closely to.your story. As it relates to hunting, it has been mostly about everyone else, and mostly my two boys (19 and 16). They are now mature enough amd experienced enough to go at it on their own. So I had another friend invite me out hunting on his beautiful farm in TN, and was lucky enough to score this beautiful 8pt buck with a muzzleloader. The timing was great (early) which allowed me to.focus on them amd other friends success. I am.very fortunate to have good friends.

That's a great Buck, congratulations! It's so great when the Lord works things out the best way possible.

With my boys (17 and 12) taking up my hunting time and my girls (7 and 5) already asking to go I haven't hunted much for myself in the last couple of years. When I have had time I just rushed out with my bow and picked a likely spot way in the back 40 away from anything my boys could hunt, so the results have been commensurate with the effort put in.

A friend of mine started putting us in for some of the public land draw hunts in SC and we got drawn this year. I shot this on the second morning about 7 am. 175 yds broadside, just forward of the shoulder blade. DRT with a 130 Speer btsp at 2930 from my mod 70 7mm-08. I also can relate , went Friday morning and got this 8 pt. Bought that rifle from a member on here 6.5x284

Nice deer; I love the dark chocolate antlers. Seems worth the wait.

Congratulation on your buck and for cutting out some time for yourself. In this busy world it can be so hard to even get a minute to sit down and catch your breath let alone get some time to hunt for yourself. I started setting aside one week for bow hunting and one week for rifle hunting to make sure I had some time for myself. It has worked out wonderfully for me, not that I am killing it on the hunting scene but it gives me some time to enjoy what I love to do whether I harvest an animal or not. Keep up the good work and good on you for getting your kids into the hunting scene. It is so important to pass on our hunting heritage to the young ones.

I can relate all to well. I'm still mostly just observing, though I think it's about done. My boys that hunt have each taken nice bucks, youngest just got a wall hanger, so I told him I'm done letting him go first! OBTW he's 25.
