Whats your favorite hunting scope 44mm objective out to 500 yards. I am currently trying the new Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18x44 FFP 34mm scope. So far it seems good nedd to get more rounds under this scope. Currently on a 6mm Arc but may change soon. As i have a 300 Prc, 7 Prc, 270, 308, 6XC, 22XC bolts. 6mm Arc and 223 Ar-15's. Most of my big power scopes are Riton X5 5-25x50 and a Riton rt-s 7 made in japan 5-25x56. And running Swfa 10x42, 12x42 and a 16x42. I try to stay under 1k. If the new arken epl4 4-16x44 wasnt on a 6-8 week backorder i would give it a chance. Thoughts, comments?

@akdad

I just got the new strike eagle 3-18 34mm.
I like it so far, it checks all the boxes for a hunting/shooting scope.
Illumination
Capped windage
Light weight
Nice usable reticle.
Glass works well in that configuration.
I think it's a winner so far.
Out to 500 yards, I'd just pick a reticle I liked and send it.

For specifically hunting I try to balance light gathering and clarity over magnification. That's just me, mainly because I have limited funds. My go to hunting scope for the last twenty some years is a VariXIII 2.5-8x32mm Mildot reticle. It's set up for 500 yards right now with a 180 Partition through a 30-06. I've shot out to 800 yards using a 168 gr CC. Not ideal but it works. I've taken my SWFA 10X well past 1100 yards. Again not ideal but it works. Really out to 500 yards you don't need a lot of magnification. I'd stick on the best glass in a 3.5-10 or something similar and run with it. For big game that's probably all you need. For varmints more magnification is fine if you want. I nearly connected with sage rats this weekend at 588 yards with my SWFA 10X on my 260 AI. Better glass would have been welcomed.

I installed a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44mm on my 300 Wby and couldn't be happier. Excellent clarity & more than enough magnification. Adjustable objectives and larger diameter tubes make hunting scopes excessively heavy IMHO. Of course, weight really doesn't matter if you are stand hunting - but I chuckle when seeing small rifles with huge scopes on them. Down South and in other warm climates, I've found magnifications of 12 & higher often produce mirage.

806guns, The strike eagle is a great scope, I have a couple. Even for medium & large game I appreciate having at least 16 power if a shot could be at 500 yards. The Nikon Monarch is another very good 44mm objective scope for hunting. To me, there are pro's & cons on all of them & it depends on intended purpose. Quality for the money; Vortex, light gathering for its size; Nikon, light weight; Leupold...

I like the VX-5HD. 3-15x44. I also have a Vortex Razor HD LH 3-15x42 that I like. Another I've considered have been the Zeiss Conquest V4 in a similar magnification.
I have 4 vortex on my rigs and one spot I hunt the sun comes up in my face on a dead end road and can't see out of them, went to Sig . They work great.

I have 3 Vortex Razor HD LHT's 3-15 x 42 with the HSR-5i (MOA) reticle. I've found them to be excellent at the range and in the field. The local "long" range has metal targets out to 535 yds and my son and I have no problem ringing steel with the 280 AI, 6.5 PRC and the 6.5 X 55. I wish the 3-15 x 50 came with the HSR 5i reticle as I like having the entire top half of the objective open.
