F.y.i. us army orders $50 million barrett mrads in 300 prc

While the .300 PRC is a great part of the whole, one of the major stimuli is the .338 Norma Mag.:

The .338 NM is quickly becoming a round of choice, as it's also the caliber of lightweight medium machine gun that Special Operations Command is seeking from industry. Ballistics experts compare its range and lethality to that of the .50-caliber M2 machine gun but in a much lighter weapon and ammo package.

Another thought is as long as SOCOM and DoD are having a heyday spending our money, why not start with a clean slate and dump the 7.62 NATO then replace it with the 6.5 PRC? :eek:;):D
 
Appears the Army will be getting the MRAD in 7.62x51mm, .300 Norma, and .338 Norma. Nothing wrong with the .300 WinMag, just wish we used a better/more modern bullet. That seems in the works too.
