ELR CENTRAL WORLD RECORD EVENT

Interesting set of rules. I wish I could be there but previous commitments to work will eliminate me, unfortunately.

Enjoy the Match! Please post the results.

Regards.

Like every new endeavor, there will be growing pains and the necessary redefining of just how this will need to be organized and managed. That's why I really wish I could be there to participate, to build up the experiences, to see if there are any needed changes. Without participating it's tough to challenge existing rules unless you've had to play by them. I am definitely looking forward to reading the various assessments after the match is completed.

Good Luck to all the participants, shooters and organizers!

Wow! I'm not sure I have the experience or skill for this, but I would love to be there as a spectator. Looking forward to the results.

What will be the World Record that is broken/set?
Per the rules as posted, the first paragraph:
The following rules have been established to standardize the requirements for a recognized ELR Central World Record attempt...

As I read this explanation, the record being shot and accepted will be under the governing body rules and organization, ELR Central. I read this as being similar to having rules and records for IBS and NBRSA as separate organizations.

Obviously this allows for other organizations to be created and to manage their own rules and records.

Hello,

And that is why I keep saying it is not anything related to "World Record"....purely "Organizational" Record but that doesn't sound as good marketing wise :) :)

Maturation of this particular segment of long range shooting along with the growth of other organizations, will bring a greater acceptance of what you're trying to get us to understand. It's all too new right now and there is a lot of flailing around trying to establish the rules and an ordering to the participation. We'll get there eventually.;)

Well, the 3 for 3 rule was enough to get me and a few other Montana 1k BR shooters interested. The rules still should be tweaked IMO, but the 3 for 3 brings accuracy to the game. I had no interest in the "keep lobbing rounds until you hit" game that was happening.

I'm with you Golden Sniper. Weird rules.

These rules were created with the help of dozens of people. Shooters and respected names in the industry. This was the most agreed upon set of rules after multiple drafts.

What we are going to finally have is a real world record. An event open to the public and spectators. Officiated by an independent 3rd party. Recorded, with the video from a set World Record released unedited. With people from all over the industry there to observe, learn etc. It is open to spectators for free, so a public event. No funny business. No trickery. No hiding behind edited footage. No walking shots in. So what we are creating is a real World Record, with a recognized standard, peer reviewed. In fact, the rules were put together with help from many shooters and people in the industry. Simple as that.
