Choice in Knives ?

No gut hook on any of my knives. Good lock blade 4inches and a fillet knife 8 inches is what I use. I like Puma, Buck, Gerber or custom knives.

I like Havalon prianta knives. They are super sharp and light weight. They are no good for prying.

Outdoor edge flip and zip and a havalon(with extra blades) are the only knives in my pack. I would never use anything else
I also carry a bench made bone collector Axis folder in my pocket.
All of these hold a edge very well and sharpen easy.
THe zip side of the flip and zip id very fast and does not clog up like lots of gut hooks do

I'm very bad to lose knives, therefore, I don't buy expensive knives. I've had good luck with Gerbers. I carry several, a couple on my belt and one or two in my pack. They sharpen and hold an edge reasonably well. If I lose one, it's not the end of the world. I don't use a gut hook, though I may have to try one of those "Flip & Zip" deals.

I was too. I learned to stop buying everything camo. If it is an accessory; radio, sharpener, knife, rangefinder, I want them to be neon colors. The havalons come in blaze orange. They are pretty tough to leave behind. If I could stop losing 2 or 3 beanies a year I'd be set.

David and Jason Winston make some stellar patterns and are reasonably priced.

The CRKT M21 is a good knife for general work on an animal. Here are a couple of videos.

Another vote for Havalon. I purchased one of there knives about 5 years ago and have never looked back. I have converted many many people to these knives. I recently misplaced my havalon after moving ad immediately ordered a new one. I prefer there #60 blades for skinning and gutting but they also make a rounded blunt tip blade which is an awesome blade for caping.

I have tried Gerber, Buck, outdoor egde, EKA and they all did a good job..
I use the the outdoor egde swingblad and it works well, but prefere a small folding knife..
But then I got Fallkniven and I was sold, I have the H1 (VG10 blade) and the PHK (3G blade).. Now I only need one knife and don't have the sharpend them while hunting..

For christmas I hope to get the U4 folding knife, it's on my list to santa..:D

Esee RC3, 4, or 5. Take your pick of length and not so expensive that losing it will be a huge deal compared to some knives out there.

Another Havalon user. Super sharp, change blades in seconds, and weighs only a few ounces. Mine is blaze orange as well.
