Can anyone please decipher this for me 700 remington

Thats likely a late 80's early 90's action. If it has the original barrel on it you can decipher the build date from the embossed marks near the recoil lug.

The early 700's did not have prefixes in the serial numbers.
Mostly im looking at the chekering and ive never seen that nice of work on a 700 that says to me old but the deterioration of the bluing looks very uniform from action to barrel but once again im not the expert

The reason I sold it was due to the price of fox pelts plummeting here in Australia.
They went from $25 a piece to under $3 overnight. We were selling rabbit and fox pelts for $300 a week, very, very good money back then.
Anyway, I felt there was no need keeping it and sold it, in just over 3 years the fox pelt trade came back and I had no rifle that wouldn't blow the pelts to bits.
Even my .222 made too much damage.

Cheers.
I used to shoot for fox pelts back in the late 70's and early 80's around Inverell in NSW Magnum, when they were worth
AU$45 to $60, then the arse fell out of the market when the anti fur trade loonies stuffed it up, shot 'em with the 222 Anschutz 1532 using 45gr Hornady Super Explosives (SX) SP, pity they stopped making the 45 grainers and now only 50gr. They never came out just blew up inside resulting in just jelly. Oh for the good old days...

Do you remember the ads on the tv showing people with dead foxes around their necks? Still amazes me that was allowed….it wouldn't be allowed today.

Cheers.
