Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50mm
Weaver Tactical 3-15x50mm

These are the scopes I've narrowed my list down to. Illuminated reticles and zero stop are nice features, but not priorities. My highest priority is solid/repeatable turrets and high optical clarity. With that said, which of these scopes would you guys recommend? This scope will be mounted on a Remington SPS Tactical in 308.

I would highly recommend the vortex. We have several different vortex scopes mounted on everything from 338 lapua to .223 and all of them have worked really well. I have never had to use the warranty service, but just knowing they have you covered in any case is nice.

What do you plan on doing with the scope??? Are you looking for a hunting scope or a scope for banging steel etc....

I really like the 4-16 hs xlr reticle for fast target acquisition and shooting in comp.

But would pick the 4-16 pst if I was going to primarily hunt with the set-up.

This rifle will be my do everything rig. Deer and hog hunting out to 400 or so along with paper/steel target shooting as far as 1000 if I can find a nearby range. The rifle wont be used for any kind of competition though.

Another vote for vortex, great scopes and best warranty if you manage to run one over with your truck! I don't know of anyone who's needed the warranty but it's good to know it's there.

Exact same gun for all intensive purposes and the same scope as recommended. I considered the same choices and a couple others. Currently very happy with the setup. Planned use exactly the same sub antelope for hogs. Might try some yotes too just for craps and giggles. Go with it. Vortex PST ffp 4-16x 50mm ebr-1 moa or milrad. I went moa since I'm more familiar with it.

You should really add the SWFA SS 3-15x 42mm to your list. Been using one and have been really impressed. For a sub $700 scope that is FFP and has 41 mils of vertical adjustment. Yes, that's right, 41 mils, that's almost 150 moa of vertical adjustment.

The glass in this scope is identical to the glass in my 3.5-10x 40mm Leupold Mk4 FFP tactical scope and that's a $1300 scope. Really need to take a look at this one.

Elite First- They have the best FFP reticle going IMO in the G2 design. And I have had exceptional luck with their higher end scopes. Very tough, excellent turrets, and great glass.

Weaver 2nd- Very good quality, excellent durability, and a good rating overall

Vortex- Nice scope, not great. I hear way to many guys loving Vortex's customer service! lightbulb

I 2nd Kirby's suggestion on the SWFA SS line. They are the ultimate no frills FFP scope. IMO they exceed the 3 you listed in every category including glass, durability, repeatability, and travel and they are cheaper to boot! Stick with the 10HD, 3-9, 5-20, or their new 3-15 and you will be HAPPY! The reticle is a little thick for my taste, even for an FFP reticle, but the design is a good one and for big game it is perfectly fine. Some of the reticles are hollow,, 5-20 and 3-15 I think, which helps a lot. I would die for a SS scope with the G2 reticle!
