Bore Scope

I had a beautiful stock Savage 116 in 7 Rem mag that had a rough bore. 140g Nosler accubonds with 65.5g of IMR 4350, Rem case, with Rem 9 1/2 shot 1/4" three-shot groups for 9 Shots on a down to bare metal bore. By the 12th shot, the group was 3/4", and at 20 shots the groups were 1.5". So, the barrel got cleaned a LOT! The Stock had pillars and was bedded.

Montana Extreme Copper Killer, applied with a sloppy wool mop, was my friend, and JB every 100 rounds.

Justin, It would ruin your barrel to lap out those drill marks, opening up the bore dia, and I have done this on a good shooting Savage barrel, just to see what would happen with Brownell's 600 grit carbide bore paste.

"Powder Heat Index" must refer to Heat of Explosion. I do not know of any free reference to powder parameter data other than Gordons Reloading Tool which I have found to be not a reliable source.

vividia makes a bore scope that will fit in a 17 dal. But it only looks straight ahead in that small bore. You can add a side facing mirror for any bore bigger than 17. I bought one for $85 on Amazon. It works great.

Hawkeye is the best, being a true optical image. Having said that, the Teslong is no joke, and the ability to record what you see, examine those images over time, and track the rounds fired gives a person exponential knowledge of what is happening in a bore.

Hawkeye with the ability to record is $2000. Teslong bore scope for the same is $89-$150
I use older laptops with my Teslongs.

Military and First Responder discounts apply to Teslong.

I have a Hawkeye I bought 40 years ago, and now the teslong for the last 10. The Hawkeye was state of the art, but fragile, and the long stiff bore line make it finicky to use. I almost never use the Hawkeye anymore becuase the new scope, that costs about 5%, does everything just as good, especiaĺy if you know how to set them up properly. On top of that, for taking along to buy used guns you just can't beat the Teslong

We ended purchasing a Teslong Flexible Rifle Borescope 0.2inch Dia Fits .20 Caliber & Larger NTG500 and another 26" Ridge Probe.
