Im thinking about doing some longrange shooting and was wondering if anyone out there can help me out. I own a stock .30-06 in Savage model 111. I was wondering what bullet I should get Weight Powder Primers to look at and perform great thanks.

PaulB,

I used 165 Nosler BT with 58grs of 4350 with federal 210 primers. I got 2700 ish fps from a 22 inch barrel. I could get up to 2800 fps but they shot better at 2700.

You could also use 168 bergers or 168 hornady amax, or if you really wanted to go to one of the heavier bergers or amax.

Hope this gives you somewhere to start.

Stu.

just went through this a while back and i settled on the 178 A-max. will probably shoot as accurate as anything and terminal performance at long range is very good. i've worked up loads with 3 different 30-06's and H414 powder was the best in all 3.

185 Berger VLD over a full case of Re22.

BTW, H414 is an outstanding powder for the .06.

I also like IMR4064, Varget, and IMR4350
