Admittedly, I am becoming quite the fan boy of the Hammer products. I have found that they save me a lot of time and energy, and in this case, wear and tear on my shoulder. I recently came full circle on another post regarding hammer bullets for short range bear hunting. That post turned into a dumpster fire, but the story was good. The 181 grain bullets out of a 300 WSM performed flawlessly on both bear that we took.
Fast forward a couple weeks, I have a friend that drew a highly coveted Elk tag, and needed some 'accurizing done to his rifle'. Well, this turned out to be a very simple fix. I loaded 165 grain Hammers in his 300 WSM, using less than optimal factory brass, and I got excellent results, within 20 rounds of load development. Here are pictures of the round and the result. The groups are .45 moa with a 7lb rifle and the velocity, without any signs of pressure are 3140 fps. Winner Winner, Chicken dinner. Hoping my friend can bring this story full circle as well in October.
