adjustabel Gas Block?

Question: Just how effective is an adjustable gas block? What is the significant functions? Does it improve accuracy, cycling, lock time? Thinking about installing one on my Armalite AR10. I load my own ammo, so would it benefit me? What is involved in installation? Brand recommendations? Or, should I just go with the Armalite Adjustable gas block? gun)Thanks for any advice.
I'm sure y'all covered it.

How effective: Same or better vs. fixed port.
Functions: Tuning action speed to match load.
Accuracy: yes and no. If your action is cycling too fast slamming bolt/buffer tube you are moved more off target.
Cycling time: slower or faster you control.
Lock Time: No.
Benefit with hand loads: yes. You can tune cycle to ensure positive ejection without slamming parts around. "Hot" loads that push too hard on parts can be tamed.

Brand: Mine is on a self built Osprey piston driven '15 so can't help ya there.

Bolt should stay locked up I've never played around with it to be honest I didn't build a semi auto to use like a bolt action but might be worth playing with just to see any diffrence in accuracy

The bullet leaves the muzzle of the rifle before the action can begin moving. That means the motion of the action cannot move the muzzle off target.

I've been using an SLR adjustable gas block on a shorty 5.56 AR. It works very well and while a couple of hundred rounds isn't much for an AR, it shows no signs of clogging

I think if you are going to use a suppressor and sub sonic ammo and full power ammo it has a place

Problem with them is they clog up and are not very dependable. I am sure opinions vary.

+1 to these comments. But i would also add the fact that short barreled platforms need them because they operate at twice the pressure level of say the rifle length gas tubes.

I have now put adj. blocks on all my ARs! The ones I use have a "click" detent(?) adjustment screw in front and it is very easy to tune the gas flow. Reloaders/shooters can further adjust it as the loads dictate. It makes all the parts last longer because they aren't being beat up by an over gased bolt carrier group. That includes the shooter! I can't see where an adj. block would be any different in regards to clogging than a non adjustable block.
When you can shoot more comfortably you will shoot better. Put a suppressor on it and you will really kick the enjoyment level way up! That's the two best things to add to an AR, besides a fine trigger of course.
