Honest question with a large caliber rifle 338 Lapua I've been looking at going with A savage AC 338 suppressor. I just find it hard to pull the trigger on a thunder beast. The only way I would do that is if there's some sort of accuracy superiority from one to the other, can anyone tell me why I'd want to spend the extra $800 or more just for that suppressor

I own the TBAC .338 GEN 2 and couldn't be more pleased with it!

This is the answer i unfortunately expected to get. Nothing substantial on reason other than it's the most expensive so must be the only one to get. I was looking for technical knowledge I assumed there is an educated reason why.

There was a guy shooting on the 1000 yard range a few weeks ago and he was running a Thunderbeast. My rifles all had tuner brakes on them. I think he was shooting a 6.5 Creed but I'm not sure about that. The lack of bullet on steel sounds :D just kidding... Hands down that was the quietest can I've ever heard. None of my Dead Air cans are as quiet on 6.8SPC, .308 (not subs), or 6.5 PRC. Not even close... .308 subs, 8.6BLK subs and 300BLK subs are a little better but not much.

The 338 Lapua creates lots of pressure which might cause a lesser can to fail (eventually). When I got into the gun/hunting game some years ago I was told "you never regret buying the best". Not sure if the Thunderbeast is "the best" but if it were me, that's the direction I would take.

Buy the cheap one and find out. If it sucks you can then buy the expensive one that you should have bought in the first place.

TBAC 338 Ultra is the gold standard for 338 mufflers on big cartridges.
My motto,
Buy once cry once.
I've got the TBAC 338 ultra gen 2 as well.
Quietest can I've ever been around.

No, a Thunder Beast (or any other ultra-premium can) will not make your rifle inherently more accurate than a good, solid suppressor like the Savage/AC.

Call both companies and ask your technical questions to find educated reasoning. TBAC will pick up the phone and are happy to answer your tech questions, very friendly and professional staff. Juan or Luiz will give you straight and honesty feedback based on their exhaustive testing.
My reasons for picking TBAC 338 Ultra:
- #1, no POI shift after removing. This is definitive, not opinion. Everything else is a distant 2nd place to this point.
- pioneers and the gold standard in the industry that everyone else has chased, again, definitive.
- most quiet, backed by data and the real world testing to back it up.
- cost isn't a driver, but if it was, there are plenty of 50%-100% certs available on forums to make it easier on those that it is.

Thanks this is more of what I was looking for . Condescension and smart *** remarks are understandably common place but wildly unhelpful so I appreciate the feedback.🤙🏻
What are the desserts that I've heard a couple people talk about?

I've ran a 338 Thunder Beast can since around 2011 +/- I also use it for the 260, 6.5 creed and the 6.5x47 very happy with it.

In 99% of responses in here, you're probably going to get small-batch responses due the limited time spent with these two options, and how much these users can translate into useful data for you, especially the Savage unit. Call them, if they don't tell you what you want to hear based on your priorities and needs, don't buy.

I have 11 .338 Edge rifles and wanted a suppressor that was fairly quiet and reduced recoil to a tolerable level. I called Shawn Carlock and he told me about the Thunderbeast .338 suppressor . I called Thunderbeast and they told me that the only one available at the time was at Mile High in Denver. It was expensive , My son ordered it, We tried it and it was better than I expected. I hunted with it for 80 days and am satisfied. I shot it on 2 different rifles and the velocity increase slightly. The rifles grouped as well as ever at close and long range,

I wish I could tell you it's 100% a TB would be worth it.
I can tell you that every time I've put a TB on a rifle it has helped accuracy, just have not tried theTB on the Edge yet. The bad thing is I've lost all interest in the Edge. The brake works great but is loud and lots of blast but after shooting cans I have no interest in shooting it without a can!
