Absolute Hammer load data

Got a few more rounds down range today with the .300 weatherby and IMR-4451
Weatherby Mark V
24" tube (I put 26" in my last post)
Weatherby brass, new
CCI-250
178gr AH
IMR-4451
3.610" COAL
indoor range ~70deg.
Magnetospeed sporter

74gr--2968
75gr--3039
76gr--3105
77gr--3140
77.5gr--3177
78gr--3168
78.5gr--3198
79gr--3202
79.5gr--3245

No pressure signs anywhere, no dimples, no flattening primers, ejector marks, nothing. Should I keep going with this one? For you experts out there, why do i get a bit of stalling then a jump in velocity? Are 1/2gr increments not enough in a larger case like this one? I typically shoot 2-3 rounds with a minute or more in between, then put the rifle down for several minutes while I shoot something else. The barrel would cool faster if I were outside in the breeze i'm sure, but I never let them get too hot.

Looking at my data with IMR-4955 I got 3253 at 80gr, 3299 with 81gr and a slight ejector mark. So maybe I should keep rolling with this one since I'm not getting any pressure signs yet and see where I end up.

If no pressure I keep going.

Yep, Let her eat

While it's likely just me being a retired insurance agent and almost always adverse to risk, but once you get over 80 gr. I would increase in 0.3 gr. increments, rather than 0.5 gr. The Absolutes can surprise you really quickly with a popped primer or locked bolt. As the old sailors used to say, "Aye, she's a fair wench but she's got a bit of a bite when you least expect it!" :D

I guess this is the place to post data?!! This was my first foray using absolute Hammers. Gun is a Savage 110 with a 24 inch McGowan 1:8.5 twist barrel chambered in 280AI. Load details: new Peterson brass, Hybrid 100V powder, CCI#250 primers, 140 grain absolute hammer bullets. Ran them over the chrono and results are as follows:
61 -3257
61.5 -3323
62 -3349
62.5 -3364
63 -3375
63.5 -3419 (slightly sticky bolt lift)
64 -3437( definite bolt stickiness and slight primer flattening)

Big jump from 61 to 61.5! Looks like you'll be playing in the 62.5 to 63 gr. range. Kind of the upper capacity limit for that case anyway. FWIW, my 280AI (Savage AXIS II w/ 22" 1:8 barrel) hit pressure at 62 gr. Same bullet, brass and powder but FedGM215M primer, so I'm shooting it at 61.5 gr. Best to you in your load development.

You maxed out right around where I did. I'm dialing back my load to 62.8 gr and trying BR2 primers now (originally used 215M). Once it stops raining here I'll get to the range and see how it does.

Actually it was your data off the absolute data spreadsheet that I went off of!! So thank you sir!!

New to hammer bullets, looking at the absolute line. If you can not measure base to ogive for length, are you measuring base to tip?

For most calibers I set them to mag length and go. Hammers are very immune to searing depth. I think others load differently but that's what works for me.
