7 Saum or 7 Blaser magnum

@Canhunter35 I'm getting 3070 with 180 hybrid from the lrm. It's a great design hindered by junk brass. The 28 nosler loaded down to get your 3050-3100 with 180s would last a long time. Most the guys I've talked to say they last 1000-1200 half moa before accuracy fades with high psi loads, but you'll chase lands .01 every 100-150 rounds. The 28 will push a 180 over 3300fps max load from a 26" barrel. If 3050 is your goal, I'd go 7 Blaser 24" barrel, should be close to 3050 with a can.

I've been looking at the Blaser, but online info is poor. The parent case also a 404 Jeffery? What's the case head size? I'm going to rebarrel a vanguard chambered in a wby.

@loonie how have you found the rl26 for temperature stability? I have some rl23 on hand to try in my short 22 inch saum, a 24 inch would possibly go 2900 maybe a touch more?
I have not seen any issue with temp stability with RL26. I shoot more in the cold than in the heat with my 7's so have not shot it above high 70's. Have put rounds in the freezer over night and shot them and velocity held the same . I only tried rl23 a little and didn't care for it. IMR 7828 is what I used before I went to 26 but have seen it spike pressures above 80 degrees when pushing close to a max load .

Here are some pictures for comparison.

7mm blaser on the left, 7mm LRM on the right. (I hated the lrm by the way. I had nothing but trouble with the cartridge, brass and especially Gunwerks! I will never deal with those guys again!)

All bullets were seated so the bullets boat tail/bearing surface junction was seated at the neck/shoulder junction. Also I use a #38 shell holder from rcbs as the rim is thicker than a 7 mm rem or lrm.

I have a 7mm blaser improved. Couldn't be more impressed with the cartridge or the Norma Brass.

My fire forming load with 64.5 grains of rl-26 and a 180 eld-m will run around 2960. That's fireforming. Think I can get 3050 easily with improved case. 26 inch barrel.

My improved load is 195 BERGER 64 grains rl-26 at 2890. 1 hole accuracy.

I have had a 7lrm and have a 28 nosler and greatly prefer the 7mm blaser for my purposes.

My 7mm blaser is done so now to find some time to shoot it! Mine is chambered in a custom reamer throated for the 195's.
