7 PRC Advice needed

Send it back. everybody is getting away with building JUNK. I got a similar issue with a high end barrel maker. I had fierce build me a gun a year ago and it was junk from one end to the other' this led me to build a gun and the barrel is junk. ever since THE CHINA VIRUS our county went to ****,

I build my own now. Lathe and mill and some apprentice time to an old timer GS.

All my barrel blanks are more than 6yo from the "good ol' days". Same for actions.

I have no experience with certain "name brand" builders. I now live with shouting distance of GA Precision. Might give then a shout some time when I don't want to do the work or "lack confidence" for a specific task.

Headspace too short maybe? Don't know if you have a headspace go /no-go gauges or maybe just measure a piece of fired brass as a rough check.

Only fired it about18 times, no unusual growth, about two thousands if I remember correctly. That was over a month ago. The bur in the chamber catches the case and holds it. When you close the bolt and the case is captured in the bolt face and is rotated as the bolt closes it is shearing off brass from the ejectors scrapping on the case base. On a case I've chambered several times you can see a ring forming around the primer, its shaving off brass there. The shavings are already in the chamber and on the bolt lugs, you can see a smear of brass on the bolt face that goes about one quarter of the way around. I've not removed it because I'm going to show the store owner that nothing has changed sense we sent it back.
I'm not a gun smith, this is the best I can explain what I see.

No, I don't have a go/ no go gage. I only had it in my possession for about a week before it was sent back.

I loaded for two fierce rifles. I was not a fan.

No a fierce CT Rogue. I'd loaded for a Fierce Rage in 6.5 PRC and it was great. That's why I got the Rogue. I haven't shot it sense I got it back, mounting the scope, ect. Bolt is smooth as silk until you put in a cartridge, bolt closes ok until you turn the bolt handle down and it takes a bit of pressure to close. None of any of rifle I've owned, ever had this unless there was a headspace issue. Its not really bad,but when you pay that kind of money you expect better.
Pretty sure a trip back to the GS is in order. They take it back or something of equal price is in trade.
I've had a better look at the brass I chambered, it still has the curved groove in it as before. I'm doubtful about what was done by them. This is crappie. Not what I wanted to say, but I don't want to be censored.

That can't be possible.... because I haven't seen ANYTHING....ANYTHING...that hasn't gone up in price by less than 100% over the past 4 years....so obviously.....q/c has to have gone up by the same margins.....hasn't it? I can tell you....no time worse to be retired than the past 4 years and be on a fixed income!!!

Okay, I don't post here often, I'm not a GS and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night but I have an idea of what may be causing this.
I think the root cause is in the bolt, in particular the ejectors. The OP said there was wear on the case from the ejectors and fine brass shavings in that area of the bolt in addition to wear on the brass near the shoulder. My thought is that the ejector bores are either contaminated with metal shavings or are undersized or both. This condition would push the brass to one side of the chamber hard during initial loading and then the ejectors would get really tight on the brass as the bolt is rotated closed. That would cause the wear on the head (face?) of the brass. I would suggest the bolt be disassembled and the ejectors and ejector springs be removed and the ejectors, bores and springs be carefully examined, cleaned and repaired as required. Got a borescope? Sounds like the reamer didn't finish the shoulder well. Each time they reamed it. I don't imagine they would have used a different (new/re-sharpened) reamer and they are not inspecting the reamer or the finish they left in the chamber. Basic machining.

I somewhat agree with the shoulder issue. I ran into that not long ago with a new 30-06. Setting the sizing die a few thousandths closer cured the problem, doesn't take much to cause a bolt to close hard.

We explained what was happening to fierce before it was sent back. Explained the brass shaveings, the groove in the shoulder body area, everything. But nothing has changed. I'm fed up with it. I going to ask them, the GS. To get me a Seekins element,for Havak PH3.
I no longer have any confidence in fierce.
