Not sure how a 6.5prc can even enter the chat compared to a 280AI.
The 7rm will generally outperform the 7prc no matter how you slice it! Only in a world where you severely hamper the 7rm with outlandish restrictions will it MAYBE not. You're either purposely making the RM not outperform the PRC or your findings are not within the means. Either way your claimed statements of fact are not within the means.

No way it will with Factory chambering and 3. 340 industry std coal !

Ok...what velocity are you using for a 180 from the 7 PRC? Or even a 175 for that matter?

To the OP, the 280ai you already have covers the need for a 6.5! If for some chance you felt like loading the 280ai down enough to match the meager performance of a 6.5prc and send 156s at barely 3000fps then run what you brung and send it. I suppose you could send 162 grain .284 atips faster than the 6.5prc would ever dream if sending 156s. Or you could build a 6.5prc and be supremely disappointed with its performance like all PRCs...

Like i said anything can be close to right if you play the narrative in your favor. You my friend, are not correct. I have several SAAMI 7RMs that all outperform the PRC. The kool-aid ain't that sweet.

There is also no need to infer that others are clowns because the standards don't align with your opinions.

Well when you think you can safely shoot a 180 gr at over 3000 fps from a SAMMI 7 RM chamber what else is to be thought ?

I don't understand what you're saying. But either way any 7prc that can actually shoot a 180 over 3000fps is not the norm. Its not a secret that they hover there and most are under that. All of my 7rms will do that which is what you claim they cannot. You are categorically incorrect. Its not a contest and theres no reason to react like you do. You say 7rm will not keep up with the prc and I have 3 that will and far surpass it. This is not a secret.

Blah Blah Blah ! you have no 7 RMs with a sammi chamber that will shoot a 180 at near or over 3000 !

I think the 6.5 PRC is an excellent cartridge. Been using the 6.5x284N for for about +15 years…My go-to LRH cartridge for the medium sized game I predominantly hunt. Near identical ballistic potential/case capacity between the 6.5x284N and the 6.5 PRC. Factory 6.5 PRC ammo performs well, but doesn't seem to deliver the consistency, or take full advantage of the ballistic potential achievable with hand loads for long range, high precision work….. So, I've just stuck with my 6.5x284N….Lots of familiarity/experience with it..

My custom M700 REM action with a Benchmark 24 " barrel likes the Hornady 153 A-Tip at 2925 fps . ADG brass and Retumbo powder and F215 Sparkers .

Yes. the 280ai is my go-to. I probably should have noted that I have a 270 wsm as well.

I think I have my bases covered.

I found a great deal on a Seekins ph2 in 6.5 prc, but I just can't convince myself to get it...

I think 6.5 Remington Magnum has the 6.5 SAUM by more than a few years.....

From a guy who's done load dev on several 65 saums, PRCs, and X284s.......the saum usually gives an extra 75+- fps before seeing pressure signs. It does hold 5gr more volume. A 65saum with 0.200+ freebore ran in a medium action with 156 Bergers will put big deep holes in anything on this continent for a long ways out, thr prc is just a step or two behind it. I def recommend going with a 7.5 or 7.75tw barrel for any this cases, especially if running a shorter barrel, reduced velocity.
