If it were me doing a 6.5 PRC on a Remington 700, I would certainly do a Wyatt's extended box. Easily done. Then you can take full advantage of the 6.5 PRC OAL.

If you get a Bainey Box from PTG, they are 3.110" which is the most you can get.

I believe the Wyatt's box for a Rem short action gets around 2.995" for one of their boxes. They may have additional options as well.

The one I'm referring to is the MBE-04.

I talked to Defiance Machining who make some great actions. They really recommend the XM length action for 6.5 prc, which will accommodate a cartridge length of 3.2". This is what I ordered for my build.
