6.5-284 for elk?

Great picture! Congrats on the successful cat. I'd love to hunt those one day. In regards to the post topic, my experience with the 6.5x284 is that it combines phenomenal ballistics with a moderately high-power round, that I've seen take plenty of deer, and some elk as well. I wouldn't hesitate to use it on one of my elk hunts.

No sir. I was a ways in so I skinned it. Taxidermist estimated 140. He is 7 feet 2 inch nose to tail. Spread was like 54. He said it was a good cat. Big ones here run about 175.
I have always passed on cats when hunting with our hound guys. I have been trying for a couple of years to get one via spot and stalk. This gave me my longest shot on game opportunity and a good cat. Happy. Rug will go next to me wolf.
