So my son who just turned 6 decide he wanted to do his own bullets for his rifle for deer this year. I prepared all the brass for him and he helped me to the pressure ladder which was backwards till we hit a perfect 2k fps and the rifle functions fine.
He's running a Burris 2.5-10 scope and he's setup on his tripod with a hog saddle and a harvester can. I'm not a dad to do it while he hangs on. He got setup and I sat by him. He made a perfect 68 yard shot. Deer ran off. We climbed done and he enjoyed tracking it.
I was a bit worried about it with that low of speed, but after watching the video it hit hard. Both lungs had decent damage and the heart had a tear. At that speed he still got an exit the shank made it out and I found two petals in the opposite side hide. One happy kid. Not bad for a short little 41lbs fella. Now he's hooked now and already wants to go to Texas and Africa with me.
So the 57gr hht will definitely work well at lower speeds. And shoots very accurately. Sample size one and hopefully growing more this year.
