.45 ACP Loads

You know..I might just quit using Unique after all these years. It really is a dirty burning powder.
I going to try and use up what I have. AA#5 does sound interesting and I have 231 already.

First, I very much agree with the comment about it not really be cost effective to reload over factory for 9mm FMJ and 45 ACP FMJ.

I do not reload 380 so no info there. Below I tried to pay attention to where you said what bullet you want to use and what powders you have. I have a wide variety of 9mm's and 45 ACP's and I generally don't make loads just certain guns.

The only exception to ammo in all guns was an Zev OZ9 with a chamber so tight even handloads that pass the chamber gauge do not always chamber.

I currently mostly use Tightgroup and I did not see on your list, I see you list Power Pistol which I have some spicey loads for report signficantly louder. I have also loaded a lot of 9mm with WSF.
115 plated round nose over 6.5 of PP
My usual projectiles: 124 poly bullet (don't like indoors, smokes less than hard cast but still smokes inside), 124 plated, 147 poly

45ACP
230 FMJ or Plated
4.5 grains Bullseye

We have several thousand brass cases to reload in .380, 9mm, .45apc!

Can't find Unique -- so I use AA#5 for 380, 9mm and 45acp! It gives me good accuracy on all 3 cartridges and it's readily available -- and flows well through my powder measure! I don't give my loads in the open internet -- so try it and work up a load with it that works for you!

Len, I burned a lot of Bullseye shooting indoor pistol. My Kimber really likes AA#5 under a cast 200 gr Lyman 452460 . I think I'm at 8.0 gr. But would have to check to be positive. Use a 13 lb. spring with a buffer. They are only running about 800 fps but they only have to go 50 ft. and peaitrate 1 sheet of paper. Easy to control during rapid fire.

Clays is the cleanest I have ever shot in a 45, or a 12 gauge for that matter. If I am using a jacketed bullet it's silly clean. For lead I use a lot of Bullseye because I bought 30 pounds of it years ago and it's as accurate as anything, plus it smells amazing. For heavy loads shooting lead I go to Unique, you can push a lead bullet harder with Unique than anything else I have found before it starts leading the barrel.

On my Dillon, I load the .45 caliber 200 gr. Missouri Bullet SWC over 5.0 gr. of Titegroup. It is wonderfully accurate in my 1911 and Rugers.

We may start to get back into shooting .45 ACP and 9MM in 1911s. May have to break out our RCBS Progressive 2000 Pro Reloader. I was using Unique with loads
.380 3Grs of Unique
9mm 4 grs of Unique
.45ACP 5 grs of Unique with 230gr bullet.

Have not loaded in about 10 years and want to put 4-5 ( mistake thousand) HUNDRED loaded of each for future practice.

.45 ACP... oh yeah, love it...
I run pretty much two loads.
(1) 230gr Renington Golden Saber HP, N340 (6.5grs) WW case, Primer WLP, Vels (930 FPS) from my Colt 1911 Combat Elite 5"... this is my go to load for everything, the most accurate load I've found, bar none, in my pistol.

(2) 200gr Oregon Trail Laser-Cast .45 Cal. 200g SWC .452 cast bullet. Brinell Hardness: 15, WW231 (4.0grs) Fedearl case, Primer CCI 300, Vels (700 FPS) from my Colt 1911 Combat Elite 5"... When I wnat managed recoil and rapped target engagement this is my range load, plus it has great accuracy, it's also a very clean load to use.

For 45, 200 SWC over 231 was the classic load. I load 115 FMJ over WSF (shotgun powder) for 9mm. Like several pointed out, you can great deals of bulk factory loaded 9mm.
