Anyone know how the .338 Edge and .338 Edge AI compare? Is there any gain in velocity? What are their velocities with a 250 grain bullet?
That's your opinion and you most welcome to it but as I have a bunch of AI stuff it's well worth it to meI don't know but given that you can make Edge cartridges by necking up 300 RUM (or buy ADG), I wouldn't consider it. Fireforming is too much of a waste of time, components, and barrel life.
So did you get an Edge or an AI?That's your opinion and you most welcome to it but as I have a bunch of AI stuff it's well worth it to me
I've got an Edge but I'll AI it in a skinny minuteSo did you get an Edge or an AI?
Barrel length? Why not just +p the edge? Not sure how much more you'll get out of it by making it and AI. I'm hitting close to 2900FPS with a 300 grain Berger OTM

27"Barrel length?
NiceBarrel length?
I run 250 grain SMK's at 3150 out my 28@ PacNor barreled edge. That's with Norma 300 rum brass and a pile of H1000. I did take it to pressure just over 3200 but was loosing primer pockets. No clue about an AI versionAnyone know how the .338 Edge and .338 Edge AI compare? Is there any gain in velocity? What are their velocities with a 250 grain bullet?
This is about 50fps, maybe up to 75fps, more than my 30" barrel running a +P 338 Edge. I could only get the 300g pills at a max of 2950fps…never shot anything lighter than 265g. Was hoping to beat 3,000fps with 300's, but no.From what I've experienced it's about like AI ing any other cartridge, 50-100fps gain at equal pressures. I ran 102gr of N570 out of a 29" Brux at 2980fps with Bertram brass in my 338EDGE AI with the 300gr Hybrid, 2950 with H1000.
250 berger at 3150 w/h1000 and I believe it ran just under 3250fps with n570.
