ok yall i have a question
do yall think a 308 is enough to kill a deer out to 500 yards?
and is a 16x power scope good for that range?
and ima be shootin 150 gr hornady sst or the interlock or interbond

to be able to see the deer well and clear.

thanks

Yes - the .308 is plenty powerful to kill a deer at 500+ yards, assuming good shot placement.

A 16x is a more powerful scope than necessary, but if you like it... Why not?

Shoot whichever bullet is more accurate. Either one of those should work fine, if you hit well.

That sounds like a good plan. We set milk jugs up at 700 yards and 1000 yards and plug away. It usually takes two or three shots before we are on them. My only suggestion is maybe move up to the 165 SST. We shot a deer this past season at close range in the neck. The bullet went in through the vertebrae and passed through with a 50 cent piece size whole on the opposite side. This was at 30yards with about 2900fps. I would say they hold together pretty well.
