30 sherman magnum

I was on the 300 PRC S.I. thread when it ran out. I felt like Charlie Brown when Lucy pulls the ball out from him. Thank god for this new thread! And I like the name change too.

I picked up 250 pieces of new in box 375 Ruger brass a couple weeks ago for $100 and figured I'd form some of those into PRC/Sherman Mag cases just because I'm cheap and love forming brass. LOL I formed 100 pieces of 6.5 PRC brass from 375 Ruger cases for a buddy last week because he couldn't find any in stock. I've got 100, 8x68s cases (50 Norma and 50 RWS) sitting here to form in the 30 Sherman Mag too, just for fun.

Haha. I've done all the above and I don't have time to do it anymore! I think the new 300 prc brass is better than the old Ruger and has a little more capacity. I've got 8 firings on them and couldn't do that with the Ruger. Let me know what you think.

Tried a couple more loads today with pretty good results. I have some 230 and 250 Atips coming soon as well as some 230 Hybrids

Rich, I suspect that the consistent and small size of your "fire forming groups" are mostly a reflection of the shooters ability and the quality of the firearm as well as quality loading of components/technique ... that's not to take away from the obvious proven potential of the round. The noted velocities are stellar - what would venture the final vel's would be for an optimal accuracy node from a fully fire formed round? Good shooting/work. Jim

A lot of the fire forming was with factory ammo so in think it bodes well for being able to use it in a pinch!
It looks like the 215 Berger is most happy below 3100' with most powders but a couple slow powders have a node over 3100' it seems. The 230 looks pretty comfy with the N570 load at 3050' but needs more testing.

I can't believe RL23 got that kind of velocity with the 215gr. Pretty impressive.
Do remember how much case fill that was? It was probably pretty good. Rl 23 is pretty bulky.

I have to say that this 300 PRC brass is definitely better than the 375 Ruger was!
Have to give Hornady some kudos here. I have 8 firings now and just sized and primed for 9. About 1/2 are trashed now but still have about 12 still holding primers! Wouldn't have guessed that. Since they are headed south anyway, I've juiced a couple up with 85 and 86 grains of N570 behind a 215 and a 230 Berger. I'm guessing they'll crack 3200 and 3100'+. I also have some 200's that I may stoke up with RL26 or Retumbo and see what they will do. I'm guessing 3350+

I shot 77 grains for 3121 but it was a little hot. Case still had a little wiggle room but probably 95%+

I shot 75.5 grains of R26 today behind a 225eldm and it was to hot with a suppressor. Don't know what the velocity was. 75 was good though.
