Ernie,
1-10" Twist is good for 180-grain in .30-06.
The lenght of the barrel between 22-24".
Action - Remington
Best all around bullet weight - 165/168-grain

This is still most popular caliber and you can buy factory ammo almost in all convenience stores

Hello again,
(1) Just looking for some "expert" opinions on the venerable ole' 30-06 for North American big-game hunting. With all the new cartridges out there today, has does it stack up?
(2) What is a good barrel length & twist for 30-06 180-gr bullets for deer & elk hunting?
(3) What are some good loads for this setup? Note that while I'm not looking for benchrest accuracy, I would like to stay with something that would give me around 1" groups @ 100 yds.

Thanks for you help,
Ernie
