Just got a 270 Weatherby Magnum planning on using 140 nosler ballistic tips. I'm not really set on them but it's where I would like to start there. Any load data anyone has would be helpful.
Thanks

In My 270 WM I use the Hornady 130 and 150 Spire point, reason being that they are 2 of very few bullets that shoot real good in my rifle . Not sure why others do not, but these two do. I would recommend you use controlled expansion bullets due to the high velocities this cartridge generates. As far as powder goes i've had good results with RL-22, IMR 7828, Norma MRP and the discontinued H-450. RL-26 also gave me decent results but I did not do much load dev with it. I've also had best results with the Fed 215 primer and Weatherby/Norma brass.

My 270Wby I've used 140gr AB. I have shot 150gr ABLR,Berger 150gr VLD and using IMR-7828. I used Nolser data for 140gr and both 150gr. I'd read your other post about maybe changing over to 280AI and guess you decide to keep it 270Wby. I was going to post on it as I also have 280AI and I think you made good choice.

I'm using the berger 140 classic hunter which has a higher BC then the 150 vld with RL26 and it gives me 3350 fps and less than half MOA to 825 yards.
The gun also shoot the 129lrx with the same charge of RL26 at 3480 fps.

007, I had best accuracy with the 150 Bergers and H1000. Now having my .270Wby rebarreled since the old barrel was toast. Good luck

The thought crossed my mind but I decided to stay with the 270 WB. I think it's a great round. I have a 280 ai already also think it's a great round. I think I'm going to stay with the 270 wb due to the cost of the switchover. The 270 wb is a rifles inc. I still haven't gotten a opportunity to shoot it yet waiting for dies and brass bullets to come in. Everything should be in tomorrow. That's wh

IMR-7828 is the "go to" powder in my 270 Wby, especially with 130's. It's always given me the best combo of speed and accuracy, by far. 3400-3500 fps is not unusual.
For 140 Ballisitic Tips, I've had great results with RL-25.

Have fun with your 270 Roy. Amazing cartridge.
