Do any of you 240 shooters get better than 3/4 inch groups. I have a custom built 721 action 1-9 heart 24", the best loads I have for now are Berger 105 and nosler E-tip 90. Just looking for some more info seating depth, primers, powders. Any help would be great.

One of my go to varmint rifles is chambered in a tight neck .240 Wby. 28" 9 tw Hart barrel. Spits out 105's at 3400 over a heavy dose of 52 gr of RL 22. Shoots in the 1's and 2's at 100 yards, and under 1" at 300.
She's a special piece.

mines a factory mark V so its the shorter action. I run 50 grains of re22 with a fed match mag primer and seat to mag length using a 100 grain sierra pro hunter and 5 shot groups if I go slow are just under 3/4s of an inch. Ive shot enough near 1/2 inch to know that if someone else was behind it it probably would do better. It was a fussy gun though and this was one of only 2 loads I found that were sub moa. The other was 51 grains of 7828sc cci mag primer and a 100 grian ballistic tip. that load goes just under an inch for 5.

I load for several 240s for the 105 bergers I am having best luck with h-1000 and standard large rifle primer. for the 95 grain bergers I prefer vv n-560 with standard large rifle primers. anything smaller I like h-100v

Thanks for all if the info I will try and put some of this to work this weekend and let you know how it works.
