22cm Question

Wanting to build a 22cm that's short. Thinking 18" Proof cf barrel. Looking at the 1:8 twist. Am
I fine with the 1:8 shooting the 69gr to 80ish-gr bullets? Should I go 1:7? Mainly using it for coyotes/varmints suppressed. Thanks

Should be good to go with 8T for your bullet weights.
I started with a 20" 8 twist that shot 80 eldm really well but sold it because I wanted a lighter heavy sporter profile.

I'm building one (screwing on a barrel) early next year for my Dad, waiting on completing our trip to New Zealand next month for his 80th Birthday. He is getting a new rifle for the trip.
Anyway, I have sourced a blank in 7" twist 4 groove at 32" unfinished, bit long for my needs, but beggars can't be choosers.
I have 2 blanks here in 3 groove, but they are tomato stakes as they tend to rip bullets apart.
I really believe the 7" twist is the better option, my 22-250AI is 7" twist, fantastic shooter.

eight will be great. I run 77 gr lapua and they shoot awesome. First gun in years that Berger wasn't the best shooting bullet.

1:8 is totally fine. My 1:8 handles up to the 88 ELDM very well.

My 22CMAI has 1-6.5TR run long copper monos. On a side note 50gr CC bullets vaporize sith that TR.

You could split the difference and get a 7.5" twist. My Bartlein 7.5" seems to shoot well with everything from the 69SMK to the Hornady 88 ELD-M.

I have a 9t and an 8t. I was able to shoot everything up to 77 with the 9t just fine but it wouldn't stablize 80gr eldx. I got the 8t so I could use the 80 eldx.

8 twist is fine. I have an 18" barrel 22 cm, and will not go that short again. Rifle is very loud for what I use it for, even with a suppressor. Another thing I don't like about it is it is tough to get 100% powder burn with the standard burn rate powders used for the cartridge in that length, which doesn't help accuracy.

I just got an 18" also have been working with ramshot big game for 80 eldx....I tried first with staball 6.5 but it was too slow to get the velocity I wanted. I got up to 3250 with no pressure so far and good accuracy with big game. Need a little more work to finish the load but looking good so far.

I've got an 18" .22 Creed that's a 7.5 twist.

I've only shot 75s and 80s out of it. Currently running 75s at 3250 via Re23.

Next one will be a 8" twist.

Had it to do over it would be a 7.5 twist.

I have a 24" 8 twist. Runs the 85.5s well.

Also have A 26" 7 twist. 5r. It will run the 95smks up to the point of "poof". (About3300fps)
But I'm really doubtful that a 7-1/2 would stabilize them.
