16" barrel/caliber combo for 1K yards

I agree on the 6mm not enough juice behind at that range
Heck maybe I could wildcat a 6-300 PRC

@Ernie

The pistol guys have done short ultra mags, and the nosler series too. Hit them up for more info. Don't be scared of short barrels they are fun. Just make sure you check the suppressor manufacturers minimum barrel length for your cartridge.

Here is a post from the specialty pistol page with some info on a short UM to compare numbers for you

Hey guys,

looking for advice/suggestions
Want to build a 16 inch barreled bolt gun for shooting 800-1k with enough energy and speed for deer sized animals
Let me here it

A 16" 6.5 PRC is not going to get you to a grand on game, with an impact MV that is high enough to consistently work well.
With a 18" 6.5 PRC with factory ammo (4575 elev) I am at 1821 fps at 900 yards. 143 ELD-X. If you can find a bullet that reliably open up at 1600 fps you would be good to go.

Have you used the tmk in that 1600-1800 range?

I don't think that would be sufficient for deer at 800-1000 yards.
Heck, my 24" 6CM pushing a 105 @ 3188fps isn't sufficient for deer at 1k.
1500 plus fps at 1000 is enough for bullet expansion depending on bullet. It's also enough to create a decent amount of shock. I agree on the lighter end of things but data says it'll do the job.
