X-Caliber Barrel lead times

For the increase in sales due to specials x-cal has a 308win thermal fluted cerekoted ar barrel that should be here by 7/19/26 was shipped last week at less than 13 weeks. The date i stated was with the 3 extra weeks for the paint job. Kudos to X-cal as long as the barrel proves itself. Maybe the other 2 will follow close behind.

Just returned from a range trip with the AR308 x-caliber and Savage prefit barrel. The 308 barrel is still having gas issues. The Aero adjustable gas block with rifle length tube was contacting the back of the BCG tube, causing the BCG to not go all the way into battery.

I tried another BCG to make sure that was not the issue, and the problem was the same with either one(Both are toolcraft). It seems the dimple on the barrel moves the Aero tube and block too far forward.

I removed the adjustable block and replaced it with a standard non adjustable Aero block and tube, and had to adjust the block placement more towards the muzzle, and not use the dimple. That seemed to fix the contact issue, and the BCG would now easily go into battery. It cycled ok for the first few rounds, but the block may have loosened, cause it started having feed issues and jams.

I was anxious to start testing the Savage prefit, so I only shot enough rounds to get on paper and get some clues about potential accuracy.
I can confirm the X-Caliber barrels I have shoot pretty accurate with off the shelf ammo( Federal soft point hunting ammo and some Fiocci 150gr)
I walked the rounds to zero on the triangles, and then shot some three and five round groups. The results are in the pic.
The other pic shows the Savage 6.5 initial results using factory S&B 140gr fmj. I will try my Berger 140's next trip. (I was having Savage trigger problems today, so I have to take the rifle apart again to adjust it)

So far, I do like the initial accuracy results. Now to just get both rifles reliable.

emailed x-cal last week to get an update on 2 barrels ordered 4/3/26. reply stated i should get it in 3 weeks at current rate?

now for McGowen....................no replies to my emails as i ordered close to the same time as x-cal date. not a good sign on their part!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:. this is the 1st issue i've had with them and probably won't ever order from them anymore...............................

I figured out one of the issues with the x-cal 308 barrel. It HATES the Palmetto state armory AAC 308 150gr ammo. It does not cycle at all with those. I think the x-cal barrel has a smaller gas port than was on my Proof barrel, and they must skimp a bit on the powder charge in the AAC ammo. Federal 110gr and S&B 150gr cycle fine. The best news is that the S&B ammo shoots bugholes with this barrel, so good options there. I have yet to develop a load with my Bergers yet, as I was just trying to get it cycling first.

Next outing will be with hand loaded Bergers.
