I bought an ar47. I put a red dot on at first but it seemed too low, tho it worked excellent. I had to duck my head down to keep the dot at or near center, tho I knew it didn't need to be. I didn't like that the red dot was so high in the tube as I looked thru it, so I took it off and put a 2-7x32 Nikon on it on a pair of see thru rings. fit is perfect now and will shoot it in tomorrow morn. Im just curious about the forums thoughts on 1x or 0x red dots vs a low power scope. And this isn't a survey. Just looking for experienced opines from those who have tried both.

I tried both, I went with a Vortex crossfire 2-7x32 and its more versatile for my shooting. It will be shot mostly from a bench or at varmints, so a scope is a better choice for me. For a carbine used for tactical purposes a red dot or holographic sight would be a better choice.

Your first problem is not the sights its the mounts. All ar stuff must be mounted higher. That's why the rings you have work. I have a few of both and you need to decide what you are using the gun for. I keep my red dots to 100 yards and under preferably around 30 yards.

Thanks guys for the perspective and input on the reddot vs Nikon. I wont be doing any forced entry or room clearing so the scope is ideal for my needs. I reset the Nikon 2-7x a bit and we shot 60 rds thru it today after re-zeroing. I had more bullseyes at 100y, but my wife had a better moa group of 6 shots just left of the bull. Her groups are always smaller but shes got youth and female biorhythms on her side. My lung meds make me shaky some. Her total group size was only 3 inches for all her many shots, mine was about 5 inches for an equal number. I think the ar47 will hone in smaller as everything wears in. And I always shoot better w no onlookers. Father son next to us had ar47 also, they were lovin it.

My Concealed carry instructor said women are better shots. And this was proven when my wife and a few others stepped up and shot. Her and I always shot steel and I never noticed untill we was shooting paper..
