Inteesting! All of the case I know of, are formed from the outside of the case. So all the uneveness are to the insided of the case. So a mandrel is needed to be used to straighten out the inside of the neck wall.
Some say that needs to be straighten out before placing your bullet in for better alinement each time. They saying that it's needs to be done each time of sizing your case. I can see that! Most new cases, (Peterson) I have found to tighter in the necks to start with anyway. Or at least smaller than .003" tension most seem to want. I don't have problem with that either. That life!. So I start with a mandrel to set up to work my cases over.
I setup with new cases, Use a mandrel to open up the neck, push the uneveness to the outside of the neck. then cut the case length to spec. Turn the neck for thickness. I am done with uneveness on the necks, I believe! Correct me if I am wrong. I use bushing dies to set my neck tension. So in resizing my cases, I am done using a madrel again. No more pushing the neck back and forth a couple of extra times when resizing my brass for the lack of nothing else to do
. One and done with setting neck tension. Not back and forth for fun to push the uneveness to the outside of the neck each time. When cutting my cases to length, it bevel my necks inside and out at that point in time. After each firing I anneal each time, setup and recheck for case length and it bevels at the same time again if it is needed. Present;ly doing 50 cases at a time. May increase that to 100 each time. Presently I have switch to Peterson brass, because of a bigger selection. Lapus there isn't a big selection to start with. Or at least in what I reload for. The other is I can now size in FL or NS with bushing dies. Down the rabbit hole some more.
In my belted mag rifles, I am going to try some of Peterson Long case somewhere along the line. To see how they work. I just order and received 250 338WM Petersons brass, and now see they are builting them in the long form.

Hornady isn't bad in some chamberings. It's good in 405 and seems decent in 300win from what I've done.
The necks on my 22-250 Hornady brass are tight enough though that I was damaging bullets a bit seating Hornady 60's yesterday and the pockets seemed to vary a touch more than I'd like. The 22-250 I have now is a garbage can though- just shooting up stuff I've had gathering dust. It'll get traded when I'm done.
I bet you never gave your wife this advice !

Puzzling to Me how a fellow can fire new brass without a basic neck "opening" when it's new.
Seems most of my ADG has been the same as yours over the years, plenty dings in bulk packaging. I suspect soft lots and thin necks would naturally be worse.

Me too but I had hoped that a new run of ADG brass might be really good quality so I could pick up more for later use
