Your going your hunt of a lifetome what are you hunting and what rifle are you using ? Mine is easy

Being a part of this site has introduced me to all kinds of possibilities - many beyond my wildest dreams.

Blue Sheep in Nepal for example;

Markhor in one of the 'stans would be an amazing experience.

Growing up in the Rockies, I can't even imagine what it would be like to hunt the Himalayas!

Dream hunt? At my age an rapidly progressing inability to climb high, rugged terrain as I once did and having already hunted for decades, I guess I would go after the African big 4 in a single, conjoined hunting trip. I have several rifles to choose from, so I would most likely take 2-3 of those in appropriate calibers.

My wife would never allow me to spend that much from our savings at this stage, but if she passes before me and I am still able, it could be in the cards. By that time, being killed by a lion or cape may be a good death - As my old native American friend would put it.

Hunt of a lifetime? Well, it would have to be a Big 4. Botswana Elephant and then Leopard behind bushman trackers in the Kalahari. Up to Tanzania for a beautiful Lion and some of those big Masai Buffalo.

That should top $300k if I do it right.

So, since I don't have $300k in my hunt budget, maybe I'll just go to Europe. Shoot a Stag and Fallow and Boar.
In 2009 I shot the big four in Tanzania; got a nice eland as well as tons of PG. Because of the global financial crisis, I got a screaming deal on that 21 day hunt. My total cost including tips and trophy fees was about 85K. I shot a very nice elephant and then a leopard on day 8. Shot the lion on day 16. Best hunt of my life, and best 85K I ever spent.

Hey, not really my dream hunt; because that seems to change pretty regularly. But, I'm currently in Spain. A couple days ago I took a bucket list animal, an Ibex. Also hunted for Red Legged Partridge behind pointing dogs. Yesterday I took a Balarean Boc. Also culled a female Boc, guide has 20 tags for females and asked I wanted to shoot one. I said if we saw one that should be taken. Well we did and down it went. Turned out it was defective, only had one teat. Guide and government game manager said it probably lost babies every time it had them.
Take Care

Blue sheep or Tur are the hardest mountain hunts you can do.

Makes sense to me. I am not crazy about goats though - sheep taste so much better. 😜

...but who am I kidding - if I get to do any shooting in the Himalayas, it'll most likely be with a camera 📸

Good luck with your Marco Polo - hope we get to see some pics!!
