I'm looking for a cradle-type tripod. I've used the Kenco and McFadden and like them a lot but I'd rather not spend 300 bucks and 14 lbs is on the heavy side for a lot of the places I go. I've been looking at the Caldwell deadshot. 6 lbs, hundred bucks looks great but I have questions about stability and performance.

Any experience with the deadshot?

Any suggestions as to something that splits the difference between the caldwell and the Kenco in price, weight, performance? Not looking for something for nothing - 10lbs, $170, good but not perfect stability would be great.

I'd be using it as an all-arounder - 'chucks, deer, occasional pronghorn if that matters.

I bought a real cheapo one at Walmart a couple years ago, made a couple attachments for it but it mostly stays under my spotting scope or digital SLR. I paid 15 bucks and it weighs about 10 ounces.
