When large predators are sick, injured, starving, territorial, or just surprised and attack that is one thing. But when they actively stalk and kill humans as prey/food, that adds a whole new twist to calling wildlife. I love to call game, I have called in and killed one Mt. lion. I tracked it into the thick brush with low/short distance visibility, and it is a different feeling than looking for a deer or elk. I was bowhunting years ago and a couple of Mt. lions crossed the road I was driving down. I grabbed my bow and a mouthcall the sun was going down in the canyon and the shadows and darkness creeping in. I hurried in the direction the cats had traveled looking for an opening in the brush big enough to set up in. The only open spot i found that might offer a shot was about 20 yards across. I sat up kneeling with my bow at the ready and started calling. I called until it was to dark to shoot and nothing came in but I will never forget the rush/feeling of turning your self into prey for a large predator in low light. I know the chances of a cat actually attacking the caller are very low but it is still a rush. 1 on 1

I was on a horse hunting trip for elk in the middle of Idaho and we came back to the tent at noon on the first day to dry out so we had a fire going and I looked over my buddy's shoulder and said, look buck a bobcat, but it wasn't a bobcat it was a cougar with just the top half of his head showing laying about 200 ft away watching us, when he saw us turn around and look at him he charged us so I grabbed a small log I was burning in half and wacked him across the bridge of the nose then he ran back to the tree line and sat there and snarled at us. I have been outdoors my entire life working and playing and have said that if something was going to eat me I would hear it coming but I was absolutely wrong ,that cat made no noise at and was the most fluid thing I have ever seen run up to attack, very remarkable animals. when it was all over I looked over at the horses and mules who were on hobbles 100 yds away and they were still eating grass and had never seen the whole show which if you are familiar with horses they don't miss much. also when you had to pee at night and opened the tent flap to go out in the dark you decided you really could wait for the dawn to pee. the next day I sat at the base of a pine and took out my rabbit call and started blowing it thinking of trying to kill that cat and thought what am I doing that thing could come around behind me and I would never know it was there so I put the call away
with the conspiracy put of my brain working one wonders if stopping hound hunting, which is the only way to kill cats and bears,and introducing wolves maybe they could discourage hunting and without the hunters backing the second ammendment the anti- gun people would win

It's a large country with a lot of people who don't know or like guns and they influence our rights whether we like it or not and the people who don't like guns will accept them much more readily for a purpose like hunting
I just want to point out since I've stopped commenting on this thread it has went from liberal politicians not understanding the consequences of banning cougar hunting in California resulting in the death of a yound man to a conspiracy to reduce the number of prey animals so hunting becomes less popular so the 2nd amendment can be overturned.
This thread was off the rails before I said you can't preemptively condemn one group of politicans for doing the same thing a group of politicans you support are already doing.

No, you compared mountain lion hunting to red state people all being the same and banning abortions of non viable pregnancies ….without evidence…or specifics was the issue.
Trying to come off some impartial libertarian was further eroded when you said it wasn't funded by tax payer money because abortion was only 3% of the function of planned parenthood.
I'm sure to YOU it's as simple as you see it…but if that was the case for everyone else, then it wouldn't be a controversial issue across the county.
Same as "conspiracy theories." It (conspiracy theories) stem from the lack of trust in today's institutions, and that trust was lost because enough of those "conspiracies" turned out to be true. Covid for instance.

Since the original comment did call out specific states I apologize to all the politicians in conservative states that didn't pass any laws that affected women's health care.
Besides that I stand by original comment. You can't say healthcare should be left in the hands of doctors in some cases and controlled by politicans in other cases.

Pertaining to tax payer funding of Planned Parenthood not being used for abortions, this is not a difficult concept. The Federal government reimburses Planned Parenthood for providing certain services, abortion not being one of them. It is very similar to how religious charities can receive federal funding; infact Catholic Charities receives similar amounts of federal funding as Planned Parenthood.

The actual care is not decided by politicians. No one is passing laws requiring doctors to use a coat hanger. They are saying that in most general cases, you can't just abort a baby because two people were horny one night, and if you do, we don't want to pay for it.
