I bought a cheap 375 ruger in a mossberg patriot. Thinking of threading it but looks like the barrel is only thick enough for 1/2 in. Does anyone think this will be a problem. Such as barrel to thin. I think as long as I never shoot unprotected threads wouldn't matter but curious.

Yes, that is too small for the .375 bore. It will leave you with a .062 wall thickness. I recommend more than twice that much. Some rifle barrels are just to small to safely install a screw on brake but you might look at the clamp on type.

Some brakes let you use the crown as a stop rather than a shoulder. That might be a option for a larger thread. They don't look as nice but it helps with your problem.

I want to suppress it with the hybrid I am getting hopefully next fall. Was just worried it was going to be to thin. The guy I talked to said he could thread it but wanted other opinions. Its 0.6135 inches at the muzzle with my cheap caliper I had handy. Don't really want to shorten it to much. I can't get to the gun right now to measure farther down. Got like 18 inches of snow and don't want to go dig it out right now.

I can't help you with the suppressor, because I don't know what brand your getting, but if it was mine I would shorten it slightly to get to the .625" major diameter of 5/8x24 and use a brake with a internal shoulder. You could also make a bushing that jumps it up to 3/4x24 with a shoulder for a suppressor at the same time it is threaded to use a suppressor.

Its a they hybrid 46. guess i should have added the 46. Its the silencer co one. Plan to direct thread it if it worked.

Thanks for the replies will look into more stuff.
