300 WSM

You might consider shooting a 215 Berger. It will only be a tad slower than what a 300 win mag can produce. Broz showed the performance of this bullet with a 300 win mag IIRC on 23 animals in a thread here. It is forwarded a bit to show kills with details:
https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/comparing-the-berger-210-vld-to-the-215-hybrid.88657/page-8

A friend used the 230 gr Berger in his 22" 300 WSM with RL-17 @ 2735 fps. I watched as he shot a cow elk at 300 yds. Double lung with exit. Cow stopped in tracks, stood still for 10 seconds and fell over stiff legged.

Do you reload? Is it in a SA or med length one. If it's in a SA I would have a wyatt extend box installed and go with the new Berger 200X it will get the bullet out closer to the neck shoulder junction.

In my 300wsm the throat is so shot you have put a lot of bullet inside the case which cut back on powder capacity.

In factory chambered rifles I think a lot of guys see this issue. I've seen a number of responses in thread like this where the guys can't use the big long bullets.

Just have to wait and see if they chime in.

I shoot 200 grain Partitions.Work well in my rifle. Also like Hammer 174 grain.

I use the 215 berger. Will say that there is a lot of bullet down in the case. Using 4831sc. Only getting a little over 2600 fps. But they shoot Sub moa and so far have performed well on game.

I've shot about everything from 165s up to Berger 230s from a SAAMI chambered Short Action 300 WSM. As far as I'm concerned, with the appropriate powder and bullet choice, case capacity is a non issue. You can scratch that myth from the record of reality. The biggest factor is mag length and feeding. If you intend to single feed, it doesn't matter what bullet you use as long as you have room to eject a loaded round. If you want a repeater, I would choose a shorter nosed bullet like the 200 ELD-X, 200 Accubond, or the 230 Berger OTM with H4350, RL17, H4831SC, RL26, or 7828SSC. For a 20" barrel on a WSM, I doubt you could find a better combination than a 200 grain bullet at 2900+ fps with 62.5-63 grains of RL17.
