.300 Norma magnum for hunting??

Shot this group yesterday evening. 3 shots, 356 yards, 2/3". This is a hot load but the accuracy speaks for itself!

Love this round.

When I began this thread I had no idea so many would respond.

I do need to take back my statement that the Berger Hybrid bullets would not perform well on big game. I made that statement after having a handloaded 69 gr. HP Sierra Matchking not open when I hit a tom turkey.

But after reading this thread and some magazine articles about that round I'm convinced that 215, 230 gr. Berger hybrid bullets are OK for big game. That's good news for ULR hunters because it gives them a match grade bullet to use.

What is everyone using to trim their 300 brass? I have struck out on case holders for most conventional trimmers. On the good news front, petersen cartridge is due to release 300 nm brass with an expected longer life thats better than norma.

Great news on additional brass although I'm not familiar with Petersen.

I use a giraud trimmer for mine, primarily to chamfer/debur though because they are shot by the time they need trimming..

I'm over the moon happy and you should be too! Here's why: I opened a recently ordered box of 215gr 300NM ammo from ABM and was shocked to see LAPUA HEADSTAMPED BRASS!! Crossing my fingers this is the beginning of Lapua to offer 300NM brass to the masses.

This makes me very happy!

I hope it is made by Lapua its self, not just head stamped that way under licence as has happened in the distant past with 300 WM IIRC

I'm looking forward to Peterson brass releasing the 300 NM brass

I think ill order a couple boxes.

Emailed Lapua to inquire if 300 NM brass would be available soon, they responded with "Yes, in 2018". Hell yeah, hopefully it is all we've been wishing for.

I ordered a couple boxes of ABM 230s from Mile High before the confirmation from Lapua. Ouch its $$, hopefully its in Lapua brass.
