Gunwerks / hornady

Its because money. Just wished Hornady would produce higher quality bullets & brass. Guess I will keep using Lapua,Norma, & Berger products until that happens.

You obviously have not used their bullets, they are excellent. Most every company out here makes great products. I use them all.

Hornady products are used at benchrest, F-Class, etc, but not as much as Lapua,Norma,Berger.

I have never seen and Hornady brass or bullets used in Benchrest! Now saying that I do like the interlock bullets for standard range hunting.

There are different levels of accuracy. Benchrest, F-Class, Tactical, & Hunting. Yes, I agree, Hornady makes good products but not great. I have shot IBS 600yd benchrest and currently F-TR 1000yd. Hornady brass loaded to equal pressure as say Lapua or Norma, Hornady will not last as long. The cull rate is higher when seperating brass & bullets. I understand they focus on money but if Hornady is trying to go all out, then they probably could on certain items. Example, Hornady 338 Lapua mag brass is NO good. I have seen many rifles chambered by professional gunbuilders and when using Hornady 338 brass there was alot of issues. Most of their bullets lack BC of competitors. Their reloading dies are not "good enough" to be used in the Benchrest world. They do however make shooting fun as the prices are cheaper than most. When it comes to my match rifles, the name Hornady doesn`t come to mind when I`m purchasing items. They make great hunting bullets but thats as far as I will go with them. Just my opinion.

Hornady bullets can be very good. I placed in the top ten at the 2002 IBS 1000 yd nationals using Amax bullets. I also held an Australian national 1000 yd BR group record using Amax bullets.

I just wish Hornary would offer more bullet weights in the Amax range. I would really like to see a 7mm in 180gn or thereabouts. And I think there would be demand for a heavier 308 and 338 Amax too. Not likely to see any expansion of the Amax range any time soon given though the demand for bullets in their existing line-up right now though.

I love the 105 amax for my 243 and the 162 for my 7mag. The sst's are pretty good too!

Perhaps Gunwerks had the same supply problem keeping enough Bergers in stock. I just found the Berger I have been waiting to find for almost a year. I am now set with bullets, powder and primers till the next "presidential election". Will also bet $$$ was involved in the move. Never used Hornady bullets, but do recommend their factory ammo to friends that don't reload.
