Thinking 168 berger for lng rg shooting and hunting

Would use a 7wsm \.284 160-170 interbond if they made one, so i'm thinking the 168grn berger for hunting and longrange work ! anyother ideas for a quality long range bullet ?

If you still want expansion at long range you are on the right track. You did say "Long Range and Hunting" right? That translates into "Berger"

I shoot the 168's out of my 7mag. I'm still fairly new to the long range shooting, but these seem to perform great easily moa at 1000, and are much less picky to load than some of the other's i've tried. Just consider your twist rate, my rifle has a 1:9.5" twist, I haven't tried the 180 bergers but i'd like to, they'll juke the wind better.

I have shot several animals at 500-550 yards -would like to start shooting up to 700yards for targets and maybe predators =just want to up my bc from the 154 grn interbonds to the 168 bergers and maybe tighten my group at the same time ! would like to hear some feedback on the berger preformance ?

I like the Bergers for close up out to long range. I feel that they expand better at the reduced impact velocities of long range hunting relative to many others.

However, they may not perform as well for penetrating heavy bone as Interbonds, Accubonds, and some others.

I might learn towards the Accubond over the Berger for Grizzlys at long range.

And, I'd for sure lean towards the 180's provided your twist is adequate.

Bergers will certainly do the job on elk, carribou, sheep, deer, etc.

Im under the mindset of softer/fragmenting bullets for long range and stronger bullets for close range

In my opinion:
Long range: Berger, A-max or any other bullet that is very accurate and will fragment or open up at lower velocities
Midrange: Anything thats accurate
Short range (25-150 yds) All the bonded and solids or any other very stout made bullet

Out of my 7mm rem. I'm shooting the 168 Berger 2800fps at the muzzle. On a mature 8.5 year old bull elk at 690yds it shattered the thick bone below the shoulder blade, through the vitals, and then stopped against that heavy bone on the opposite side. The bullet core I found weighed 62grs. The elk did 2 jumps and died. Thats the only experience I've had with them on game beyond 300yrds.

Bergers seem to be more accurate than other bullets in the guns I reload for, but they also seem to shoot there best when touching or almost touching the lands. 2 of my rifles are now single shots because of this, but still working on a fix for them.
