25-06 AI

I've 50 years experience with the 2506 ā€¦(in Nevada)
Any advantage with an AI version or fast twist barrels is minimal. It kills anything huntable in Nevada .
It's already at the edge of flat trajectoriesā€¦and ethical kill distances.
What needs improvemen?ā€¦brass life?ā€¦270 win brass is plentiful and relatively cheap (and fits the chamber neck tighter to further improve accuracy.)
This cartridge has thrived and survived since 1925 simply because it performs so well on so many levels.

I have a Ruger #1 in 25-06. It shoots very well for me. Has a Jared trugger. I load a Sierra 117/120gr hpbt bullet behind 51 gr. Of IMR 4350. I Think. Only have a Zise 3x9 on it. Still shoots very good at 400yds
I have asked this before, what exactly is a Jared trigger? Is it an adjustable trigger? Can it be changed out readily? I have a 1b that could use a trigger upgrade.

Thinking about chambering my new barrel to a 25-06ai. I know I have to buy a new sizing die, but would I be able to use my 25-06 Forster seater or do I have to buy a new seater?

How many rounds down this 25-06 barrel do you think this is?
I bet it is a lot more than you think.

Cheers.

I believe billglausier meant JARD triggerā€¦which are known for fine triggers especially benchrest/target style with pull weights in ounce measure ranges.

Wellā€¦my first 2506 had a CM Douglas premium air gauged barrelā€¦it took about 1200 rounds for the 100yd accuracy to degrade from 0.3 inches to 0.5ā€¦.even with my load testing and frequent avid coyote hunting it took 30 winters before I replaced the barrel with stainless because I got tired of pampering that CM barrel in the snowā€¦(and I had way more money after the kids split.)

I have a 1962 7mm Rem mag with original stainless barrel that has a shade over 7000 rounds through it but with careful handloads it will still shoot under an inch at a hundred. Nice thing about burning it out is I have two more identical barrels with less than 300 on each so I'm set with it till I croak.
