Lead Poisoning

So I assume that it's lead from consumed animals! Not range lead?
If I made hand turned copper bullets for a 100 dollars each, I'd pu pu lead to!
What about all are an ancestors and us, how eat animals we have shot with these bullets.
Yesterday I would never see our even think of seeing a bold eagle, osprey our red tail…..But now are common.
O let's make are sport to expensive to do!!!!!!
Sounds like a gun grab to me!

My dog was shot by a shotgun 7 years ago. His x-ray showed that he has 13 lead pellets in him, two you can still see under his skin. The others are deep inside him with one being against his spine. He's never slowed down even a little bit, still runs in the desert a couple miles per day. That was 8 years ago.

When I was a young boy I'd keep about 10 lead pellets in my mouth for quicker reloads in my pellet gun while hunting anything I could find. I'd hunt every day after school. I've never had any symptoms of lead poisoning, I'm 54 now.

I personally believe the politics behind the ban has ruined any real progress that may have helped conservation. I think lead may be an issue but to what degree ? Is it as bad as they portray it to be ? It boggles the mind if it's as bad as they portray it. How are these same birds making a comeback from almost extinction ? And then you factor in things that have even more of an impact. But yet they are rarely spoken of. Or they portray it to not to be such a concern. I really find it hard to believe these same people starting these wars around the globe. Give two sh--- about a few birds. And the effect lead has on them. They drone cities full of kids. But then turn around & preach about how bad guns are at each school shooting. When it isn't the drone or gun. But the people utilizing these tools, for what outcome ? I would be curious to see what the long term effects of these wars have on conservation in those areas. I wonder if conservation even enters the conversation when starting a war ?

When I was a teenager, I worked for a commercial reloader. I got paid $10 per thousand for bullets that I hand cast with Lyman 4 cavity molds, 1960s that was really good money when I was -paid 1.32 per hour for driving a school bus starting in the 11th grade! There is no telling how many thousands of bullets I cast!

Lead ban...humm lets think about it. If you double or triple the cost of ammo, more guns become useless. Now throw in the manufacture of Lead Birdshot, it has closed down many if not all the makers in the USA, Lawrence in particular. Now if lead bullets were banned, the cost would result in a lack of demand, thus makers like Sierra, Nosler, and Hornady would not have a very good report to their shareholders, and stock values would plummet.

I recognize that the lead ban for what it is, an attack on guns, gun rights, and one of the many ploys to ultimately disarm us and make us a much weaker nation.

I've carrying a .177 Benjamin pellet in my left lung since 1963 with no ill effects 🙀….except at time of injection! 😂

However, there's likely a difference between …..ingestion and injection! 😉😂 Though, I'm pretty sure that I've ingested at least the equivalent of at least one light load 20 gage in my lifetime! 🫢 memtb

I see this is still going. Here is my last 2 cents. I am totally broke after that.
1. Lead poisoning is Real. It has been documented in cases going back to the Roman times, when the Romans were drinking "lead milk", or using lead pipes to carry water. Google it. It was documented in the bones of a skeleton of a young girl from the Roman times on the Island of Cyprus. It can stunt the growth along other long term effects.
2. The problems:
a. Passionate people on either side, too busy arguing and shouting at each other to reach a logical solution.
b. Money to be made on either side. When money talks....something walks
Deaw your own conclussions. Options are always better than directives. We are all better served to leave passion out and have civil discussions.

Is it the video or our reaction to them that divide?

I don't think it's the reaction. I think it's the support from individuals who serve to gain monetarily from a ban. I was born and raised in CA. Left in 2001 and have only moved back because the military made me. When CA moved to non-lead I always wondered how much non-lead bullet makers donated to the cause? Follow the money.
The vast majority of our ad budget is here on lrh. We sponsor a boat on the pro bass tour, and sponsor Giving Back TV. We have donated time and material to various veterans projects and the local wrestling club for fund raising. I can assure you we have never given to any political causes, politicians, or legislative actions.

I think you Missed the point and continue to miss it. Whether you believe in a lead ban or not, it doesn't matter. You posted a video by an anti-hunting group (reading between the lines with sponsorship by sierra club, etc) showing how your bullets didn't contain lead and how lead leaves a dust trail through ballistics gel which causes harm to animals. Many people here, except the die hard hammer crew that will defend you even if you put Dylan Mulvaney as your spokeswoman, have called it a bad look and questioned your motive.

It's not about what you believe or even meant to say, it's the message you portrayed to many on here.

A lead ban is a step in disarming a very well-armed nation. Small issues of lead poisoning do not play on my fear, my fear is in the many facets used by the left to disarm a well-armed nation. We are now buying our lead from Mexico and China.

I think that Hammer is doing a superb job, and they will be well served to stay out of politics.

If all lead bullets were banned, just imagine the impact on police who have to train. For John Q Public, we have to run rounds through a semi-auto just to check out the function of the pistol and mags to justify reliability. Oh yea, banning the handguns would do away with that problem, and most could not afford running AR's with all copper bullets. Might as well take away the guns from cops also, just use Social workers to maintain Law and Order.

You need to think about where the Yellow Brick Road leads!

The easy button imo is bury the carcass.
