Shipping a stock- UPS/***???

I stopped by the local UPS store today for an Amazon return and ship a stock to get painted. After the return was complete, she asked for the name and address- custom gun coatings. She asked if it was a gun- no. What is it- stock only. She stepped away for about 5 minutes and came back to tell me UPS didn't ship any gun parts.

No need to argue or rant, so I left.

I had no idea UPS, or any carrier, wouldn't ship gun parts. This has to be politically motivated, right? I thought complete guns were the issue, not part. Very unfortunate and frustrating.
Yep...I feel your pain! Supposedly, ups& fed ex will only now allow ffl to ffl shipping! But... I wonder about sending for repair, s to gunsmith. Take your stock to main ups terminal, I bet they,ll ship it for you! Only ACTION NEEDS TO BE FFL TO FFL.

Wow how times have changed.

When I worked in the firearms business I took a rifle down to the UPS depot and the gal wouldn't take it. An FFL shipping to a mfg and she wouldn't take it. I asked for the manager. He took it. I never saw her again. No loss, I'd dealt with her before on non F/A personal stuff and it was never pleasant.

Used to be that USPS wouldn't take firearms. From anyone, didn't matter. Had to go UPS or Fed-Ex

UPS just delivered my gun to sportsman's warehouse.they deliver all their guns 4/10/2023. All the stores must be privately owned. People are going nuts over everything

"No sir, just a large box of inert metal" - My response to the USPS guy when he jokingly asked if I was shipping bullets (he meant ammo). I was in fact shipping a bunch of Nosler bullets worth around $500 via flat rate. I am as vague as can be. I would have told them it was a chunk of polymer and abbreviated "CUSTOM GUN COATINGS" to "CGC" or Custom Coatings.

All that said, I have been screwed over far too many times by the incompetence of UPS, including shipping a rifle to the wrong address that I then had to go pick up.

Well, looks like I have to drive my rifle back to the manufacturer in Utah from Florida... This is only the beginning the worst is yet to come.. keep your power dry.
Ask the manufacturer to issue a pickup at your location. Weatherby did that for me on a repair as they realized it would be nearly impossible for me to ship a rifle. They emailed a label to me and FedEx stopped at my home to pick it up

Been there done that. UPS in my opinion are a bunch of Libtards. I ran a gun/gunsmithing business in Colorado Springs for 37 years and UPS was a problem the complete time. UPS delivered firearms and related parts to me almost daily, but if I tried to ship something it was a no go. Our local UPS terminal was staffed with a number of ladies and all would state do you want to talk with my supervisor. I said yes once and never again went back. Male supervisor` told me that UPS doesn't ship guns, parts or ammo. This was in the 1990's. So at the Shot Show in Las Vegas one year I approached the UPS corporate booth and ask about shipping firearms etc. They told me I could ship any firearm related stuff I wanted as long as I was a licensed dealer and was in compliance with the law. So I told them of my experience in the Colorado Springs office and they had a million excuses, mostly blaming me for doing something wrong! I said lets call that station manager and ask him about it. I handed them his business card with name and phone number a direct line. Then it all came out. I was told that UPS gives wide powers to local stations to set their own business regiment. Happy horse ****! I never went back. I used Fedex and USPS after that. Now that I moved out of Colorado Springs and selling off my collection (I'm getting old) I take firearms I sell on GB and other places to the Pueblo Colorado UPS office and they don't care, they just ship it and thank me for the business. In my opinion give UPS the finger and go other places.
