Badlands Precision Bullets thread - From BC to terminal ballistics

The EXACT same thing happened to me…
Magneto speed on… Bughole accuracy.
Magnetospeed off…terrible groups.
I have a 30" Palma contour barrel

I ended up putting 2 SIMS barrel dampeners on the barrel, and the accuracy is great again…yes, the dampeners look funny on the barrel
 
I think I can see where a tuner might actually have some merit. Not saying I never believed they would work but after seeing that I think it would be interesting to play with one. You guys got me curious about the jump with this bullet so I checked. .175 jump Ouch.... I'll let you know how I do.
 
Got the new 150s yesterday, what do you guys think?

That tells you something about barrel vibrations. I suggest you weigh the magneto speed and put that weight in the same spot you had the magneto speed secured then see if the group improves

I'd just work up the load without the magneto, then chrono the charge that seems to be grouping best. I won't shoot for groups with the magnetospeed because it introduces another variable.

That will work as well, but the fact is that any load development is an exercise in barrel vibration. Always a bigger deal with thinner and long barrels. Carbon wrapping allows for a thicker stiffer barrel in any given length that is not as heavy. Temp stable powders widen the temperature range at which the bullet velocity will stay in the "node" of the barrel for any given node.

Exactly, plenty of variables in play already so why introduce another into the equation by hanging a magnetospeed on the end, then trying to figure out barrel dampeners, etc….I tend to shoot suppressed, so my load work up is done with the suppressor attached to keep things constant.

Anyways, sorry for the derail - I really like the look of your bullets! Will likely be ordering some .284 150s soon for my 7 SAUM.
 
They look incredible. After using Barnes and Hammer bullets, I'm surprised there is only one "driving band/pressure relief band" or whatever they are called on the body of the bullet.

What is Badlands take on this?

It's the trade-off for BC vs velocity, basically. The longer bearing surface typically results in reaching pressure at lower velocities. The right choice depends more or less on your parameters.
