300 Norma Mag Improved. Follow along!!!

What's your rear bag, what's under the bipod feet, and when you give shoulder pressure/load does your cheek weld change ? I haven't really thought too much about but I will pay attention if I change any of these. Glad to see you are in the fine tuning stage and narrowing it down. Better order another barrel LOL

Already got another barrel on the way! It'll be here on Thursday! I think I'll go 27" and put a 3 port brake on it. It'll be a pound heavier than my current barrel, so I doubt I'll need a giant 5 port brake on it. It hardly kicks at all as it is now.

Biggest thing with all of this is consistency. Shoot it the same time every time. I used to load the bipod, but found in a lot of hunting situations that's not possible due to position or loose terrain. I sometimes use finger pressure to pull the stock in a bit to my shoulder if it's on really loose terrain. Otherwise I just shoot with the slack taken out if everything and with a relaxed body. Seems for me the best way to get consistent results. Find what works for you and make it repeatable.

What company of barrel do you have coming?

Going to test the 230 Berger's with 92gr. N570 on the next range trip. I need to know how they shoot lol. They're all seated long and I'll do a seating depth test at the range.

Formed 80 pieces of brass today. Forming the last 20, along with testing some 181 Hammer Hunters tomorrow.

I'm wanting to shoot the 181 HH's this season. So hopefully they shoot 🤞🏽.

The hammers are loaded short of the lands (don't exactly know where and don't really care at this point). I have 4 loaded with N570 at 93gr. 3 loaded at 94gr. And 3 loaded at 95gr. I'll report with velocities and accuracy tomorrow.

My buddy had this exact same built done, at the same time, except in standard Norma. He's at 92gr. N570 with 181 Hammers at 1/2 MOA and 3330fps with no pressure signs. But a full case.

That's just down right se$y!!!

I have some foulers and 15 rounds loaded up at 94gr of H1000 with .003 neck tension for the next range trip. I'll be taking it to 800 yards I think.

Have to re-mount my scope with some higher rings so that I can hopefully get slide back far enough for a correct length of pull/eye relief combo. It's simply too far forward right now and the objective bell is almost touching the rail. So I'll re-mount the scope in the new rings when they come in, and then hopefully this weekend get out and sight in at 200 and verify drops and groups at around 800.

My scope dilemma

I might be a country boy but I like that height! I'd grind the front pic notch flush looks like your only going to gain 1/4" or so of scope shift without going to a 1 piece base.

230 Berger's went fairly well! Started with a quick seating depth test. The increments are from the bullet jammed, not the lands. I Re-shot the .01 because the first group had the first two bullets touching and I just wanted to make sure I didn't pull the third shot. I decided on .06 And then took it straight to 600, and then 1000 yards. It was pretty windy and I was holding .6 MILS of wind at 1000.

Anyone getting higher than stated BC's on the 230's? My 100 yard zero with the .06 was pretty **** good and you can see my 600 yard group was starting to hit high, and then first shot at 1000 actually went over the top. I had to come down .3 MILS for the 1000 yard group. For the data to actually line up with my trued impacts I would need either a corrected BC of .42 G7 or a Muzzle Velocity of 3135. What say you?
