Bird dogs

This thread hits home. We recently lost our buddy BO. He was the one and only to my wife and I. That dog retrieved birds from the nastiest, iciest, coldest places you could imagine. He rode in the the truck for dozens of hours on end to sit and retrieve ducks in the harshest and most dangerous of conditions and he retrieved thousands of birds for many people! Everyone who knew him admired his demeanor and temperament. He was a fixture on the bow of the boat all summer, his place was at my side or on my pillow at night. He hiked hundreds of miles with me in the backcountry and was my wifes favorite thing in the world. From the moment we hand picked him till the day he passed shy of his 11th birthday he was golden! Guys, love your bird dogs cuz their time is always too short. RIP Bobo. He was one of my bests.

Watercolor of me and my Brittany, Rusty, at one of our favorite hunting spots. On a deer hunt in Alberta about 15 years ago, spent the week with Nick Wright, a well known wildlife/hunting artist /illustrator. Nick was regularly commissioned for artwork by many of the hunting magazines. Nick kindly produced this 26"x26" water color from a series of photographs I provided. It has since sat above my fireplace serving as a reminder of great days with a great companion!

Didn't get any after the hunt pics will have to see how to post a pic of him
Understood.....I miss awesome pics all the time. My kids show me videos and pics all the time right in the middle of a hunt. I usually respond with what are you doing you need to be paying attention. Little do I realize they are obviously paying more attention than I ever could or have.

I can play.

My little spaz a couple mornings ago doing some recall training. Penny is a 17 week old GSP. My first true bird dog and so far really testing my patience 😂 she's very loving though.
Good looking puppy. Hard to create drive easier to try to slow them down. They are wound up tight and bird finding machines.

I see your crazy chocolate gsp and raise you 2! As others have said, i see them settling down around 2.5 to 3, but it just depends on the dog...
