7 PRC SAAMI approved

Eh🤷🏻‍♂️, each to their own. That's why America is awesome…..you do you and there's no one that can tell you what you what to do.
It's simply an observation, or are you disagreeing that the medium/XM action options are limited? If you are, then I am quite surprised. Two different standards and very few (MDT XM is the only one I know of out there, and soon the LP medium from Hawkins) magazines exist. BDL is about the only option out there right now.

Plus isn't the 6.5 prc technically able to load in a SA? And you don't have to go custom a ton of factory 6.5 prc options
Definitely, it's just cut off at the knees. It's a nice cartridge in a medium action, which I really do think is the sweet spot for these cartridges; the options are just limited right now. I think medium length cartridges are great, I just think the two different standards in medium action sizes make it a mess. Maybe the 7PRC will drive more options to the market.

Ya im not sure. I do see most custom actions out of stock. I'm assuming it'll be based around the 180s 7mms? Similar to the 6.5 prc was based around the 140s.

I know it'll happen, but I wish people wouldn't come out with these, I'm gonna call them gimmicky, rifles though. Initially tikka had the 6.5 prc and it was in this fancy setup, but what about the guys that don't want all that?

I think you missed the point that this is a money grab by Steve Hornady. Appreciate the science though.
But is it? Look at the currently available 7mms in the 85-90is grain of powder area. 7mm blaser(not mainstream) 7mm rem mag(belted, short neck, saami spec throat blows), 7mm wby(belted, dbl radius shoulder, poor brass selection) then its 28N(short throat and shorter barrel life). I personally feel there is a place for a 87-90gr capacity case that has a caliber long neck and modern case/throat geometry.

Every time Hornady or anyone else pays to have a cartridge SAAMI certified, these "XYZ wildcat was stolen…" comments start.

The vast majority of products for sale are iterations on others; that doesn't make them stolen. We have the patent system for a reason (arguing about the process and policies is a different topic).

SAAMI standardization allows for anyone to use the specifications. Quite frankly, it's nice to have open standards for use rather than being locked into whatever wildcat source and/or reverse engineering.

Wildcats are just that......unclaimed non standardized ideas. I mean who's wildcatting a 7mm that's in the 85-90gr area? A 7mm Sherman mega? Who cares about that, there may be 500 rifles chambered in it, ever. Bring a modern day 7mm magnum to the general masses. And make it a long action, cuz the saum already has the short action covered.

No sir, it's a choice some have to figure out when building a rifle. Some take the easy road and some take a different route that has limitations. Each to their own.

I have my 6.5prc on a bighorn SA with a WTO switchlug and I get darn good performance out of it. Maybe not as much as some that have a medium or long action but I might be able to get more barrel life before I have to fork out $700+ on another barrel.

Indeed. Having the support of factory guns and ammo makes a huge difference. That's what killed de 260 rem. No ammo and no guns
Also a limited amount of of both and a limited amount places to get components.
Well the problem with saami and Sherman cases......there will be real laboratory performed pressure testing.
Yes, this also. Real data for the masses and not just this and that guy. Not knocking Mr. Sherman but if someone has a inkling of interest in his cartridges there's only one source and that's probably over the phone and not by yourself in a book where you don't have someone trying to sell you on anything.

Oh my, heck Stanley-
Oh my, heck…..

All this griping and whimper tantrums….
Back and forth banter.
Has anyone figured out yet if the 7mm PRC is gonna be a Saami(ch) or not ?
Knowing the course of things, it will be an anaemic POC that half the forum will love 💕 but not more than the 6.5 Creed, or the heavens will fall and chicken little will have no where to run, but I got a grouse tag.

And it will all happen just right before 7mm bullets start flooding shelves again and the famin will start all over. At least then I will be able to get my 6mm supply caught up🤩

Once again you are assuming that they will use the 300 PRC case and not the 6.5 case. How about we see what Steve thinks is more profitable. Do be fooled. This is a money grab for the PRC name! I look at your list of iconic 7mm cartridges that you are running down, and can only think that maybe you should show the world what a proper 7mm cartridge should look like. Best of luck with your invention.
