Absolute Hammer load data

Got some .257 117 grain load data:
25 creedmoor 1-7" twist 26" preferred prefit on a bighorn origin
Primer was CCI 450 SRP magnum
Virgin Peterson 25 creedmoor brass
COAL on velocity testing was 2.761" have since settled on 2.755". 2.810" is touching the lands in my chamber.
Only tested Staball 6.5 so far, have some IMR 4451 I might try yet.
43 - 2948
43.3 - 2945
43.6 - 2943
43.9 - 2972
44.2 - 3026
44.5 - 3030
44.8 - 3033
45.1 - 3082 slight ejector
45.4 - 3095
45.7 - 3115
46 - 3161
46.3 - 3154 slight ejector mark here to the end
46.6 - 3168
46.9 - 3173
47.2 - 3205
47.5 - 3215
Going to revisit some of the upper end charges once I get fireformed brass. Looks like my brass is a bit undersized for the chamber and I'm thinking that might be causing some of the ejector marks. Settled on 46 grains at 2.755" coal, average of 3149 SD 9.5 ES 25, shoots about .5 MOA. Might tune a bit more when the weather gets better. This is also the first shots down this barrel. So this could also go up when I get more rounds down the tube.

I found some Staball 6.5. I want to use it for 280AI and the AH 140G. Do you guys shoot a single round until you find pressure, back off that, and then shoot groups of different seating depths? With the Abs Hammers, seating depth is not a big factor, as I understand it. So, I'm curious as to a best approach. I'm used to finding the best group in a ladder test and then tweaking the seating depth. These days, with components being so dear, I'd like to take the most efficient approach!

shoot a single round until you find pressure,

This is correct, You most likely will not need to adjust your seating depth

Look in the Absolute Hammer load data thread. Find your bullet and powder range. Go up in one grain increments until you get close to max charge, then go up in 1/2 gr increments til you find pressure. Drop back one grain below pressure. Shoot groups. Fine tune your charge wt. Probably won't have to mess with seating depth.

StaBall works really well with the 120 HH in the 280 AI. 3564 fps ain't too shabby.

Finally got out and shot today.

Do you get swipe without firing? I do on a few rifles.

Test by chambering and then unloading without firing it. I get swipe on virgin cases on some. I think this is from a short chamber, tight ejector spring, un-polished ejector pin, yada, yada....
