I just saw a documentary about mount Whitney and surroundings, beautiful nature and environment.
It was told donkeys were left behind as the towns got abandoned and nowadays around 250.000 roam and are bad for the ecosystem.
Are they hunted? Seems like a good idea (but I don't know a lot of details) to support plant life.

Just curious,

Bert

Haven't heard about donkeys, but you can shwack a horse on DNR ground in eastern Oregon if you're into packing out a literal horse.

A zebra and a donkey are about the same size. The skin of a zebra is HUGE. The skin from mine as a flat skin is something like 12ft long and 8ft wide and it wasn't a very big zebra. It takes several men to drag such a beast so shoot close to the road if you can. I hear it makes a nice carpaccio but I'm not into eating horse. The meat from this one was taken to a place that uses it to make salami.

Wild burros are a hell of a lot smaller than a zebra! Even through they are bad for the environment they are protected. Many are gathered by the BLM along with wild horses and are adopted.

Found this:

Are wild donkeys protected?

In California, it is unlawful to kill, wound, capture or have in possession any wild donkey, known legally as an "undomesticated burro," with a few exceptions noted below. An undomesticated burro means a wild burro or a burro which has not been tamed or domesticated for a period of three years after its capture.

All wild horses and burros are protected by federal law. read here:

In rural China I saw donkey on the menu. In South Africa zebra meat is prized, claimed to be the best tasting wild game in Africa. In Europe, from France and all the way to Asia, horse meat is considered a delicacy. I personally cannot bring my self to try any of those. Its a mental thing for me.
I did kill a large zebra and donated the meat. Yeah, mine was over 12'x8', layed on the floor, measured from tip of tail to tip of mouth and from end of one leg to end of the other. (you get 2 feet for tail and 2 feet for head alone)

They use to have hunting parties on the Colo River between AZ and Mex-ilfornia until the state and fed's made it illegal. They would have cook out during that time. To dam many tree hugger's around. The dumber they get too. Horse meat I believe is still eaten in Europe.
Most of the wild game in Africa is eaten. The farmer's raise cattle, and sell it to Europe. I found that the wild game there is very tasty.
If the country goes to He** we will have a food.
