Locktite marine epoxy and what release agent

Well I had to drive an hour and a half to get it but I have two boxes of the marine-tex now too. :D
I used to have a can of Mother's Carnuba waz in a large can. I think it was this, but thirty years ago so different image on the can.

Any carnuba wax works great. I have used carnuba wax, kiwi clear shoe polish, johnsons paste wax etc., they all work pretty similar. Do as stated, apply a coat, buff off, apply another coat, and buff it off well. If you buff it to a polish finish, you get a tighter more precise fit, and it looks a lot nicer for the finished product. The very small layer is plenty to release from the bedding, I have never had one stick doing it this way, and I have bedded quite a few. As far as material for bedding, I have only used Devcon, but have heard marine tex is very good too, I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

What brand is your carnauba wax?

I have seen som say that mothers liquid carnauba wax is great and I have heard the same of Johnson's.

Just wondered what brand yours was?
Mothers and Meguires both make a softish paste wax that is Carnauba and works great. I have used the Mother's version, it wasn't the cleaner Carnauba version, but not the Meguires. The one I have been using predominanetly for the past 40 years,is so old it is no longer made, or at least I haven't seen a new can in 20 years, but it is basiuically just pure Carauba paste wax. The liquid waxes probably work fine too, I use the paste because it isn't messy, dries quick and easy to store.

I use paste wax as well, but more often a commercial aerosol mold release agent.
I don't find them discussed much, but I swear by it. Easy way to ensure 100% coverage- and fast.

I tried various spray on release agents; while they release propelry, to me they put too thick a layer on the metal. I find the very thin coating of buffed out wax provides the tightest fit possible and that is what I am looking for when I bed a rifle. I am looking for as close to a glued in result as I can get.

I have had the same can of Johnson's paste wax for 15+/- years. It works fine for marine tex as of last 2-3 years and always worked fine with devcon plastic steel putty prior to that. I rub in one coat, wipe off the excess and have had no problems. I fill in any holes or crevices i don't want bedding in with play doh or modeling clay.

I think it must be my job to mention this every time it comes up, so here goes; Brownells Acra release spray is awesome. Makes the job so much easier. Why did I wait so long to use it? Cost. But now, I'll never bed another rifle without it. It's that good. Said my piece. Good luck with your bedding project.

I am going to try to find some Locktite marine epoxy at a local store to bed a rifle.
Rem 700 in a synthetic SPS style stock. I think that is what it is called. It may be a BDL. 25-06.
Anyway I am wondering if anyone has tried this Locktite marine epoxy and what you used for a release agent.
Thanks in advance.
Johnson paste wax, I apply it twice, let each coat dry and polish off, I've have done hundreds over 40 plus years never a problem, its cheaper than a can of shoe polish one can will last most a lifetime.
