Sharing COVID-19 vaccination personal experience

When my FIL got the second Pfizer shot he was out cold for two days. I mean like slept for two days straight (only symptom). I would bring my boys over to see him and he would pass out on the couch holding my two year old.

My Army buddy, who's a doc at Walter reed, got his second shot and he said it knocked him on his a**. His department gave him 3 days off planning for it, and he needed all 3 days. He had fatigue, aches, 100 degree fever. Dudes a top tier doctor (USMA, Georgetown, Harvard) and 32 yo. He said he expected all symptoms and wasn't worried.

Ist Pfizer dose in latter January. Second dose about three weeks later. No reaction with the first dose. 24 hours after the second dose, got violently sick. Lasted about 12 hours and ended like nothing had ever happened. No issues since...

Had my 2nd a week ago. Took 3 days to get back to normal. First night I woke up at 11:30 cold shakes & could not breathe. I mean it was so bad I was ready to call 911! Lasted about 2 hours then felt like carp for 3 days.

I got the Pfizer shot. First one was a non event, no issues at all. Second shot 3 weeks later, received it Friday afternoon, felt pretty fatigued, tired on Saturday and then good to go by Sunday morning.

From what I've heard from docs the more similar antibodies you have in your body the more side effects you get. They tend to fight each other.

I had COVID in December (mild case) and got my first Pfizer shot on Monday. I felt sicker from the Pfizer shot than actual COVID lol. Evidently folks that have had COVID get stronger reactions to the vaccine. My immune system was like "not today COVID".

My mother in law (85) had both Moderna shots and after the second one Thursday 3/11 she was fine until sometime during the night. She then ran a fever, body aches and stayed in bed throughout the weekend. She is just now beginning to feel better.

My wife (58) and I (70) had CV19 Christmas & New Years we are passing on the shots at this point in time. The only thing I'm concerned about is if the shots become mandatory for flying, cruises, trains, employment etc. which I am not in favor of.

My 86 year old mother-in-law has had both shots of Moderna, without any side effects. My 62 year old wife has had both shots of Moderna and was sick with chills, arm &shoulder pain and nasua that started 4 hours after the second shot and lasted for 24 hours. I am getting my first shot today and will inform you later, if I have any reactions to it. If people don't get vaccinated, then this stuff will continue until they do. After losing my best hunting buddy and 7 other friends, I can't get vaccinated quick enough. I have only left my house to go to Dr. appointments in over a year although I went out and started to sight my rifle until some people showed up without any masks on and I came home.

OK, got my first Covid 19 vaccination by Phyzer this afternoon. So far, 5 hours later, I can't see where the needle stuck me, nor do I feel any side effects. If I hadn't watched the nurse poke me, I wouldn't know she vaccinated me, as it was painless and quick. Stay tuned for anything new that pops up!

Received both Moderna vaccines, first no reaction other than fatigue and slight pain at injection site, (massaged and moved arm around repeatedly after injection as recommended), chills body aches and other flu- like symptoms after second dose for 24 hrs. Relief of reduced concern of contracting Covid-19 well worth it, would do again, recommend anyone concerned about reducing this threat to themselves, family and community, get a vaccination ASAP, particularly considering spread of new variants-- it's the right thing to do IMHO.

We reported, as directed for our 1st Moderna shot on 3/1/21. Many masked old-folks like us, group 1A reported. Upon arrival the nice lady checked our creds against a master list provided by our health care prover(s). We were then directed to a large conference room where multiple vaccination stations were set up. Almost immediately I was summoned to to a station where a sweet young thing commented that my cap, a knit red/white/ blue with a red pom-pom, was real cute. I graciously thanked her. The shot went well, right into my upper left arm, no pain. I thanked the nice young lady for a quick clean job. She said. "you must have been some kind of jock". I omitted an explanation of my past exploits and we exchanged eye smiles and I departed.

No after effects - I took my daily walk, did some yard clean up, had a nice belt of Dickel and scanned the kitten (cat) adoption list for an addition to our family. Wifey suffered minor effects but recovered soon. Other old folks reporting for 2nd shot reported same.

An explanation print-out was provided:
COVID-19 caused by coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2
Moderna COVID-10 Vaccine is an unapproved vaccine that may prevent COVID19. There is no FDA approved vaccine to prevent COVID19
FDA has authorized the emergency use of Moderna COVID19 under a "Emergency Use Authorization" - (EUA)
A list of med conditions/situations, including allergic reactions to the Moderna vaccine or its ingredients, was provided that could affect the Moderna COVID19 vaccination
A list of Moderna ingredients was provided, lots of funny sounding chemicals including polyethylene glycol (PEG).
Clinical trials - about 15,400 humans over 18 were injected with Moderna
Adverse vaccine side effects need to be reported to - FDA/CDC Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) 800-822-7967 or vaers,hhs.gov/reportevent.html - sounds bureaucratic.

We gets to go back for 2nd shot on 3/29/21

Edit: This is a valuable thread - gives insight of broad spectrum of ages, reactions, and events.

I had my second Pfizer shot last Thursday and other than some slight light headedness, I had no issues. Weird thing for me is both shots made me a little lightheaded the night of my injections but only when sitting down. If laying down or standing up and moving I had no issues.

My coworker and his wife got theirs at the same time and dealt with muscle aches for 2 days after the second dose and then were fine. Ibuprofen was able to keep their symptoms very manageable.

This is the reason for my hesitation to take the shots. I know a lot of you and other people have taken the shots without any
problems and that is good. I am just not a 100% sure.

Polyethylene glycol is extremely inert, common in shampoos, lotions and is even approved in food: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfcfr/CFRSearch.cfm?fr=172.820

I've been in conference calls with the FDA regarding drug-device approvals. Believe me, this is all bureacracy and butt covering on their end but all the data points towards these vaccines being extremely safe. It will likely be under EUA until enough 2 year data is in and sent for approval. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
